The fan and engine compartment turbulents could also throw it around.

That cover is not too bad-just 2 bolts IIRC. I think you can get at it if you remove the inner fender.

I've been slowly loosing coolant as well; I found what appears to be a 1" wide coolant trace down the side of the block on the passenger side in the back, and it appears to originate at the headgasket :(

I don't think you need to pull either. Should be lower than the up pipe and higher than and further back than the starter. I hope by budget you don't mean inexpensive...

You may have to pull the downpipe and possibly the up-pipe as well to see it.

It is at the back of the block on the side. I'll see if I can find a pic for you.

In this picture from Henry's build thread you can see it directly behind the bellows of the passenger's side up pipe. Like Dale said, the down pipe may be in the way of it when it is in place.

damn Josh why did you have to be right. But im glad you were cause now I can fix it and start driving my truck again.
But here is my thinking. Why did it blow out that gasket. Could maybe headgaskets or some other un foreseen problem.

Also, does anybody by chance know that p/n.

Thanks guys for all the help too.

At least it's something simple. I'm not sure on the part number. You should be able to find it at the dealer. Shouldn't be very expensive. When you put it back on, I'd recommend using some RTV on both sides of the gasket. The same gasket is used on the opposite side of the motor to seal the coolant after it goes through the oil cooler, and it leaked on my truck the first time I put it back together. Used some GM engine sealer RTV, and it didn't leak a drop after that.

Efn piece of sh!t dealer here didn't have the gasket. They said maybe have it in monday, but they would call me when it does. Which usually means it could take longer if never. So do yall think using some permatex(sp) rtv would cause any problems. Or should I just pray for the dealer to hopefully get the gasket in.

Just smear a little RTV on the gasket you have and see what happens.
