The 6 speeds seem to have a fair bit of trouble locking up as the power grows , but a few simple tests can check to make sure the converter is stalling at the right speed , brake stall the truck up and see what rpm its pulling through the brakes .

With my 478hp tune, I can literally stand on the brake and throttle and truck will hold at 2200-2300 rpm.

I will play more later to verify.

Sound right for the ML?

sorry to ask, but how do you notice that you are unlocked till 4th gear? is there a way you can log converter lock-up via efilive? or is it rpm drop at shifts the way to tell?

I too have a ML converter in my tranny.

One dead give away that I've noticed is if you are in tow haul and make a wot pass and the converter didn't lock properly, when you let out of the throttle the converter remains unlocked until you register more than 0% throttle.

If the converter does lock properly in tow haul on a wot pass then it remains locked when you let out and go to 0% throttle to begin engine braking and downshifting like tow haul should.

Just what I've noticed playing around...
