What options are out there for the lockup valve and main line pressure and what exactly do they do as for holding power? I don't mind a firm shift/lockup

I know you get an orange(190)? and white(170)? spring with the transgo lockup valve is there any other options? Is there different springs or shim kits to make it hold more power? :D

As for main line pressure i know most use a pump shim and I've read where that would be good for most 600+rwhp trucks what about those of us looking to make 700+rwhp is the ATS pump kit 300+psi more for us or could we just use a shim and a half

I'm looking to refresh my SC trans while the motor is out and wanted to get the most out of it.

Thanks Sonny

If you use the ATS pump kit you will be running between 300-325 psi and no knock down when the TCC applies. You will get some more holding power but you will prmaturely wear out the front rotating assmbly where the stator support rings ride.

are the ats pump kits the only ones running these kind of pressures mike??

Yes
Pump shims over .135 will coil bind the pressure regulator spring and cause massive spike pressures over 600 psi and can in fact break the spring. this kind od pressure breaks hard parts.

Mike, what would your best guess be as far as how long will it last with 300 or more pounds of main line pressure? Is the damage to the support rings immediate or does it take some time? Just looking for an experienced best guess.
Thanks, Randy

Depends on the condition to begin with. I'm not mike, but I would think the damage would occur rapidly.

Hi Wolf,
Lets say the condition is that it was just freshly rebuilt as good as one could make it and there were no previous signs of wear in the area of the support rings. So starting fresh with zero miles on a fresh rebuild. How long would it last with 300 psi line pressure?

I ran the ATS pump kit in my LB7 for 20K miles with no racing and found severe drum wear where the rings ride. I went back to the shim.
For all out competition I still use the high pressure set up knowing what it's going to do, but that's the price you pay if you want to win.

Can you order the lockup valve and pump kit from ATS separate and how does the no knock down lockup valve drive on the street is it livable?

ATS has a new pump kit that does not need a converter flow valve replacement. It is all integrated in a hollow pr valve.
