ok here is a random question, and forgive my ignorance if im totally off base here, i just know nothing about the lockup boxes

say im cruising down the highway at like 65-68 mph in 6th, could i tap the unlock on the box to help spool the charger a bit to pass a car? then tap lock and lock it back up to keep cruising?

Awesome! my brother is running a s467.7 which is what Ahale had been running but if that doesnt cut it it will probably get a set of 366/48? twins.

I think Alex will be running the S480 as a single and using a bit of spray to spool it. Its going to be ridiculous. His 67.7 spooled surprisingly well though, and made 706 on fuel only.

I just bought one of Ben's lock boxes off of 07Dirty, still in the mail. But anyways I was reading off his website about the 30sec duty cycle... what is everyone's experience with this? Can you just keep it force locked on the highway, or does the thermal protection just kick it onto auto again?

I think you wouldnt need to force lock on the highway, since thats the convert SHOULD be locked cruising the highway.

Lol ive actually jsut been emailing back and forth with Ben on this today. the duty cycle is 15sec in the new boxes. No you can not do that as the box will kill the function after 15sec. it doesnt do much for you anyhow as the converter should be locking into 5th and up pretty early at highway speeds.

if your worried about it under WOT, use auto mode. then it will lock right up as soon as you go 100% throttle.

right now he and i are trying to see why when i click auto mode, the converter locks right in at any throttle position like im going WOT. i have a feeling the wiring for 01-02 at the tps is a bit different

I use auto most of the time as well. It does tend to lock up a little early at partial throttle on the street occasionally though so I usually dont have the box "turned on" unless I plan on doing something noteworthy.

My box works flawless. No part throttle premature locking or anything like that at all. I did have an issue when I first installed it because I was pulling power off the same wire that feeds the TCM (that's where the instructions said to get power), my truck would throw range shift inhibited sometimes and it would "diesel" for about 2 or 3 seconds after shutting the key off. After Ben told me to try a different BCM wire for the power, all is fixed and I have not had a SINGLE issue what so ever. Flawless performance whether I push lock, unlock or auto. 99.9% of the time I run auto mode. I only ever use the box when I'm racing as making left had turns with the box in auto mode can be a bit scary sometimes if your already rolling when you floor it to turn quick cause the converter will lock right away and bog down, probably wouldn't be so bad on a stock turbo, but my 72mm will bog in the scenario I described.

mine doesn't do that but,,,the green light will go off for no reason and as soon as I hit the brakes,it comes back on.
