got to looking at the con rod bolts... and yeah started asking questions......
and yeah they are TTY according the merchant and several other people.. and I forgot to order them....
so I will assemble leave the lower pan and FW off.. then swap old con rod bolt out with new ones.... might get lucky if a dealer has them tomorrow....
don't really want to risk ~5000.00 repair bill on 80.00 of parts...

Double check your piston protrusion at the top and the bottom of the piston as you rock the piston in the bore. It will both verify that you have enough clearance to the head and verify that the bore isn't too loose. You will see about 0.010" or less rocking variation with a cast piston, which means you have potential for an additional 0.005" of protrusion. That is, if the bore is correct. Across the pin is the "average" and what the OEM charts are based off of for gasket selection.

Forged pistons are considerably looser and the piston rock when cold can result in the piston hitting the head.

I'll check the rock tomorrow.. There is some rock... No where near what there was last time.
Top ring gap ranged from .017-.018.
Paperwork said .004" per 1" bore 4.095" =.016x"
Bores range from 4.095-4.0955. Puts ptwc .002-.0025..
Rods and mains plastic gauge .002-.0025. Crank was polished, not turned..

Since my impact isn't big enough for these.. (Mark flats bump two for 60°) had to break out the man bar..

Had to get new front main seal.. Couldnt find my other.. Fill with oil primed via starter.. Once the rpm picked up while cranking engine is primed.. Bleed fuel system made sure everything ran.. Time to button everything else up.

As per this thread
http://www.duramaxdiesels.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66875

I made it back home.. Engine is back on the stand waiting tear down.
Crankshaft-LML keyed. Hear DHD has them on the shelve..
Check rods.. Got a line on some low milage LMM rods
Have block checked
New bearings,
Balance
ARP bolts flexplate balance valve covers LML head bolts.
New oil pump HV, bull gear, reluctor wheel

Heads stripped pressure checked.. Check price for either new OEM bare heads (1000.00 each) or entry wagler level heads which is 3200-3300 assembled.
Camshaft will get keyed as well

So most know already the LBZ I replaced my. LMM died Thursday.. Which forced me to rebuild the LMM block.
Dropped block/heads off at machine shop Monday... Called today block is done just needed main bore and that was it...
The fix parts
LML keyed crank
ARP bolts balancer/flexplate/valve cover.
Meling 316 pump
LML head bolts again
B grade gaskets
Also ordered trango Jr kit and VB upgrades. For the Trans that has ~264/265k on it now.. Also have a Transtar A7XL TC on hold for me.. if I got enough $$$ left over I'll get it and swap it out when I do the engine..
Before some jumps me with 350.00 +100.00 core and its better then stock, as several have mentioned they think stock TC is hurt....

While typing this.. Machine shop called heads are good, no bent valves guides are good.. Bad news exhaust valves are extremely thin and should be replaced

What happened to it this time?

Something failed on the LBZ block I put in the truck back in August using stupid coolant but not going into piston area... Going straight to crankcase.. Also lost the GT4088R as well idk is its engine sending something through or isolated incident.. Enginecoated trailer down with coolant/oil 30 miles after I put a stock LBZ charger on the truck that Wayne loaned me.
So flew home rebuilding the LMM that the crankshaft broke in
