LMM vs LML ALL aspects...

For guys that have owned both which would you prefer? I really like the LML design chassis wise but have heard its a bit bumpy unloaded. Again this is all on the interwebs and people only bitch on there so who knows.

Either way Im buying a used one (2008-2012) with less than 75k miles on either one. Is the LML harder to tune? Can you tune the trans? Is the trans beefier as in it will handle tuned power more stock or is it maxed at stock reliably.

Seems its REALLY hard to find an LMM while LML's seem to be more plentiful. Is this bad? As in DEF crap bad? I plan to delete anyhow.

My BIGGEST concern is most likely mpg. I know anything is better than the 6-8mpg Im getting now but I was hoping to at least double that. Is one engine tuned better mpg than other? I know right foot has alot to do with it. Im not easy on anything but I dont rag on it all the time either.

Well ^^^ that was longer than anticipated. Just give me your real world opinions.

if I found both same mileage...i'd go with the lmm all day....tuning purposes no urea stuff to deal with older bolt pattern so any wheel can fit...the only thing I really like more on my lml is the brakes are awesome

Between me and my dad we have had all generations of dmaxs and his 15 denali is the smoothest riding truck and it gets the best mileage of any of them with a stock tune.

I will agree the lml is the best riding best stock one out of the group...but once you tune them they're all pretty damn close

What do you plan on doing with the truck? Lots of aftermarket parts? Racing? Pulling? If thats on your agenda I think I would choose the LMM.

Some add ones here and there, DD, lots of towing etc the LML would be my 1st pick.

Ive had them both, and I personally like the LML better. My LML I just simply use to travel to work, tow my trailer and thats it. My truck is stock, and does everything I ask it to do. Rides great and tows even better. Urea to me is no issue. I get harassed all the time about being stock but the truck hasn't given me a reason to delete it yet.

Ive towed with one of my friends 15 denalis... let me tell you Ive towed the same trailer with my race truck on it with every generation dmax, LB7 got the best mileage(duh) and the LML did not beat me up towing it 1000 miles, they tow better than any other dmax IMHO.

If you just want a tuned truck lml all day, if your looking for something to start swaping turbos around on and go for over 600rwhp get the lmm...

My lml is twice the pulling rigg my lmm ever was...

LML > everything else.

Just for the ride, chassis, frame, bigger brakes, trailer sway control, available side-airbags, etc.

Trans is better too.

An LMM is basically just a 15 year old chassis with a new body plunked on top.

X2 and tuning a lml isn't hard either plenty if big hp lmls out there

It definitely does take some initial futzing around to properly figure out all of the proper switch settings for the emissions controls...but once you've got that figured out and have it successfully deleted everything with no warning lights/messages....you can apply a fair amount of your existing LMM tuning knowledge to the LML and you'll be off to a great start.

I had the LMM in my sig, and I towed frequently with it. My new 2015 LML is slow in comparison, but it is better from every other aspect than my old LMM. Rides better, much more comfortable interior, and insanely quiet on the inside.

Towing, this LML suspension and chassis handles a load 10x better than my LMM did. Just completely different. Hard to explain, but if you tow much the difference is night and day.

Love my LML!! She's just heavy and slow lol :thumb:
