This is annoying, now I've got it stuck in my head that this I'd causing my truck to run slowly lol
I want to do it to lower intake air temps. If you read the past posts, you'll see where other people have also cut it out. But I dont think any of them suffer from lack of air or a stuffed up filter
Hey check out my posts C20WTF is that sheet metal......? The second one is where I removed/cut the inner fenderwell on my previous picture. You also need the mounting plate to hold the CAI in place..
The idea is to draw cool from the fender and front, and not allow hot air from under the hood. Helps to keep the intake air temps down. After I did the mod that C20 has shown, my filter minder remains in the default position. As Ferm mentioned you might open up the front behind the headlight, can't hurt anything.
I am not happy about what I see in your pictures... What have you done to your air filter box?
With the PPE mod, there is no need to open up your fender opening. I personally do not like cutting the airbox like yours as I don't want it to be sucking in hot underhood air, I prefer it to only be able to pull in cool fresh air.

GMC's must be different. Yours is open behind the headlight whereas the GMC's are closed. That must be why the TSB to do the airbox upgrade is different for a GMC than a CHEVY.Ferm, where did you drill the holes at? I uploaded two pics, but i dont see where drilling holes behind the headlight would help
