My friend was coming home from Texas and his 02 ccsb dually broke a piston, so we hauled it to my place and left it. Just so happened me and the wife have been looking to buy a dually so he made me a deal on it so here it sets. I thought I'd get lucky and pull the engine, and replace the broken piston and roll on, but when I pulled the engine I found this.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1413490064.317618.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1413490080.300252.jpg

The cylinder walls were gouged so I was left with a couple decisions, have this one bored and start fresh, but another junkyard engine, or do something crazy. So I picked something crazy. I found a low mile lly out of a rollover ImageUploadedByTapatalk1413490379.776701.jpg.. And I'm making it into an LL7. Lly long block and injectors/fuel system, with lb7 turbo and ficm, ecm, glow plug module. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1413490491.068417.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1413490529.389010.jpg

I pulled the oil pans and checked to make sure nothing was out of the ordinary and all was good, turbo spun free and there wasn't any shavings when I cut oil filter open. So I'm hoping I got lucky with this engine.

I'm not doing anything crazy with this engine just wanted to try something different and offer this solution to local lb7 owners tired of changing injectors.

With that being said, I am not against lb7's at all I love them as much as the rest. So don't take it the wrong way.

I'll keep this current when I get time and when i work on this project.

Quick question how are you using lly injectors that use 45 volts with the ECM of a lb7 that sends out 92 volts. They also have different flow rates ect. Just trying to help avoid a melt down. Also glow plugs on a lb7 are 12 volts and lly are 6.7 volts

Interested to see how this goes together. I'll be pulling the trigger on gathering lly parts for my truck soon

Ecm doesn't send the voltage, the ficm does. And it will work lol. And the glow plugs are getting switched over to the lly block.

Russ how you mount ficm? I looked at it for a good hour last night before I moved on. I wanna mount it, semi factory.

Cool I thought you had said you where using the lb7 ficm.

Ya I am using lb7 ficm, because lly ficm won't talk to lb7 ecm. It's been talked about but no one has actually shows proof of the voltage at injectors. But all Bosch Duramax injectors have a 12v supply. The other is just a trigger. But anyways, I'm not the first to do this lol

On the pass side valve cover there is a threaded hole @ a 45deg angle. Make a 2" stud and mount the FICM bracket to it. I use one of the Male/Female studs from under the LB7 AIH module, they work perfect.
