I picked this engine up cheap from a junkyard, and turns out it also has a cracked piston, ImageUploadedByTapatalk1413904790.800667.jpg

The "ideal" swap is to just convert it all to LLY. LLY ECM, FICM.

It can be a PITA to tune LLY injectors running on an LB7 ECM/FICM... And then you can also run a VVT if you want to.

So for a 2003 or newer, using a lb7 ficm and ecm, every thing is plug in play and no modding like you have to do for 01-02??

is it a pain due to the smaller injectors they run or other reasons?

Im really not sure. But Juddski's truck was a nightmare to tune...

Full LLY swap is the way to go if you ask me. The "hybrid" stuff is...meh... Maybe with a stock-ish truck its fine, but Juddski's setup kinda left a bad taste in my mouth regarding the "hybrid" swap, no offense Tim haha.

I make an LLY plug-and-play harness for 01-02 guys. That way its a 'proper' LLY...LLY ECM, FICM, and variable vane turbo. No custom wiring, no custom tuning...just bolt the LLY ECM into place where your LB7 ECM was, swap over the LLY top end stuff onto your LB7 short block, and plug my harness in...matches up with all of the factory 01-02 electrical connectors.

Yes, your 01-02 gauges still work perfectly with my harness and ECM program, yes your AC still works, yes your 4wd still works, etc...
