No this is not about how many beers you can drink :D

obviously the safest way to go faster is to be lighter. So looking for all the ideas I can get. Truck is cc/sb full loaded so it's not the lightet kid on the block. So far my ideas are as follows

1. Tailgate (20 lbs maybe)
2. Replace power front seats. Remove rear seats( yet to remove but I know they're heavy)
3. Spare tire and mounting long gone (40 lbs maybe)
4. Hitch reciver (20lbs maybe)
5. Removed leafs from spring pack (100lbs easy right there)
6. Run singular battery (15ish pounds i guess)
7. Replace rear bumper with fiberglass roll pan (yet to do. Figure should save me 50lbs or so)

looking for all the ideas I can get. If anyone else has some I would love to here them. Thanks

Fiberglass hood and fenders, fiberglass bedsides, take out stereo equipment, lightweight racing seats, hood stack instead of full exhaust, even just a single stack out the back, take off door panels, aluminum driveshafts, lightweight wheels.

Are you trying to still drive this everyday?

it's not my only vehicle but yes it is a daily driver. I've seen full fiberglass beds before but I know they're mucho $$$. Who makes fiberglass panels? The exhaust is already light is it can get without doing a hood stack. And I have stock pyo rims and they're pretty darn light

My weights 6760 with the tailgate and spare pulled with 1/2 tank... all seats are still in. Unless you are going full competition going to a full fiberglass truck is IMHO not the right thing to do. You could easily get that truck to 6500 by pulling all the seats...

last time I weighed it with everything on it besides the spare it was a tad over 7k. I don't see any downside of replacing panels with fiberglass besides price obviously. I also own a vette which is all fiberglass and I've grown to love the stuff

get rid of all the moldings and emblems......thats got tobe at least 2 lbs

good idea. I'll get to that right after I pull the tint off the windows

the hitch and battery will save you about 100 lbs...bumper and tailgate about 60...less rotating mass is the key i think...there is a ton to be saved here. i am switching to a lmm rear shaft with an AllSeason Billet Yoke....on top of the lighter flywheel, internals, etc....also going to be using either 16x12 M/T Classic II wheels or Real Wheels. i would not switch to fiberglass hood if you plan to truck pull, most organizations wont allow them, or pretty much anything other than stock sheet metal everywhere.

I would re-weigh those things.

The tailgate weighs a lot more than 20lbs, the spare tire and mounting weigh a lot more than 40lbs, and the battery weighs a lot more than 15 pounds!

EDIT: nvmind I saw that others answered before me...

I'm not really worried about sled pulling ever. If I had the chance I would try it once but if not I don't really care. I'm not sure what I can do to reduce rotational weight. Besides keeping wheels and tires light

If someone can figure out how to get a set of 1/2 ton hubs and spindles to fit and hold the power, this would allow you to run smaller brake rotors and wheels which would really reduce rotating mass in the front end. I don't know if anyone has done this yet-just an idea.

How much weight do you need to shave off to drop a 10th off your time?

200 lbs in a diesel is what most have found , think of it i percentages , a 3k lb car looses 100 lbs , they just gained a 3% increase in there power to weight ration , with a 6k lbs truck the same 100 lbs is only a 1.5% gain in power to weight ration .

So back seat, spare tire and tailgate is a free 10th.
