Pulled the heads off my 01 today. Suprised to see how clean the thing is inside. Truck has almost 320000 miles on it and a tire shop owned it before me. The oil seems to stay clean a lot longer then my lmm. On my last 03 lb7 the oil would still be nice and clean at 3000 miles when id change it. After working on so many powerstrokes this really suprises me.

I thought the same thing about mine when I opened it up for injectors around 225k. It's pretty impressive really.

What are you doing to that thing if you've got the heads off? :woott:

Yeap for sure.Gonna have to ask Rob for a new little yellow guy thats waving an lb7 flag.they were such an awesome engine they made them for 4 years:thumb:
Made them more than any other models. They have to be the best. Look at who's making the power and who's not.

Studs and gaskets. Figure nows the time to do it.

Wow this thread took a crap real quick.

I dont care if it was fuel in oil that kept it so clean. Shes at 320000 miles and still running like a champ. Does not burn oil at all and the oil stays clean. I can even see the cross hatches still in the cylinder. Must be a crappy motor. BTW I have a lmm also and I still like my Lb7 better.

200k on mine and the crosshatching still looked factory. Minus a few gouges, but that may have been from that compressor wheel it ate :D
