Unless the dealer had old stock id expect him to have the new style ones. I noticed mine ran smoother on 2 stroke oil and a good dose of diesel kleen helped me pin point some bad fuel i got. Just depends on if you feels its worth adding. :D i still add a quart of 2 stroke to my tank in a false hope its doing somethimg other than make her run a bit smooth but i know reality is it aint so lol

i was told there replacing my injectors with the "good" GM ones. im taking it she was talking about the chrome ball bosch injectors? Im hoping ill get a big power gain from switching them out. my other dmax pulled alot harder ( had 5 new injectors, but they lasted 8 hours). The diffrence was night and day. I could defiantely tell i was losing a little power gradually tho. I drove it for about 3 weeks after i noticed the white smoke and as soon as i hauled my boat the smoke doubled. I could see it during the day at speeds of 10 mphs and lower. Before it would go away after Idle.

yea if there paying for the repair then they didnt make a dime on this truck im sure. as long as its fixed i dont mind who's paying for it. When i talked to them they said 1 bank is finished so ( 4 days on the bank ) and the other one will be finished tomorrow. THey better warranty it. I could see them not sense there doing me a "favor".

The one guy was right though, if you need anything in the future take your truck to MerchantAutomotive. Lucky to live so close to them. Bad ass shop right there and TRUE Dmax experts.

got the truck back..runs good/smooth..keeps throwing a service engine code tho. It comes back as Glow plug/hear ciruit A fault. Ill have to call and have it checked. Defiantly didnt gain any power from the injector replacement. MY first lb7 you pull really hard. Almost like it it had a " power band ", you could defiantly feel the turbo kick in ( i thought it was because that truck had 5 new injectors).. but now sense these injectors on my SECOND duramax have been replaced ( all 8 )i thought it would pull just as hard. In the first truck it almost felt like taking off in a plane lol This one defiantly moves but doesnt put you back in your seat. Why would the other truck pull so much hard when both were/are stock??

Were both trucks the same configuration (ECSB) / weight? What about year? GM has gone through several stock tunes for the LB7, its possible you had 2 very different stock tunes. Also, one might have had a stronger wastegate spring. Was one CA emissions and one Federal?

Lots of reasons they may have ran differently.

Just a suggestion, you may want to oil your rocker panels before they are gone to help stop the rust. These trucks rockers rust out easily and quickly. My 05 already had spots. I now oil everywhere and store it in the winter.

I think federal emissions trucks were just California...could be wrong tho.

thanks for the suggestion.. my uncle works for a local body shop and he told me to do the same thing... hood ( by grill )..doors, rocker panels.. he already did it on his 2011 dmax.

No, california trucks were california emission. Some states may have only order them california emission as well depending on their emission standards.

always ran good filtration, changed filters every 10K & have run additive every fill up since the injectors were replaced in 03
I don't know anyone thats had to change injectors out more than once, some still have the originals

Yo :p

First set went in 2008 at 210,000 miles. Just replaced that set (only one bad, but I wanted 60% covers) this month at 290,000 miles. So I am on my 3rd set. I run extra filtration, but usually no additives.

LB7ers fight back! I like this. My originals went @ 115k. My warrantied set was sittin pretty when I turned them in as cores for my Exergy 60 overs.

FWIW my GM tech buddy text me today and told me he had an LML in today... Here's his text...

"Wow. Just got in an '11 LML that's already had two injectors Replaced and is running like dick again. With only 18k on it"

A local diesel shop here sees plenty of versions other than the lb7 that needs injectors.
