Wow 5000 miles, that's some concerning scoring of the walls right there. Cylinder walls washing down you think?

Right, that’s a possibility. Not really sure what happened. It’s off to the machine shop now

My motor build had the vertical scratching the same way at 500 miles, but no additional wear after 15k miles when the heads came off again.
Long story short, I had powder coated a bunch of stuff and somehow got sandblast media in the oil cooler, which scored the cylinder walls on first start. Oil filter pulled it all out, but the damage was done.

Though in this case there is a lot more wear than just the scratching from what I see in those photos, so maybe it is washing down the walls?

Yeah I’m not sure what Happened still waiting to hear back and praying I don’t need to replace everything.

Do the scratches catch your fingernail? You can still see cross hatching around all the scratches. If they don't catch your nail, I wouldn't even worry about it.

They do actually one of them pretty bad. It’s already on the way to the machine shop.
