Really didn't plan on this at all

So we blew the stock motor in the 1/2 ton LLY a few weeks ago. After some debating we decided to try running super street this year. Shipped the truck 29 hours to my buddy Scott @ SDP. While my truck is there, I call Scott to talk turbo specs & the conversation turns to the truck he's building for the callout challenge. He casually asked me what I thought of entering my truck in the challenge if his doesn't get ready in time. So today we made it final. His won't be ready & if everything goes just right, mine could be.

Now I want to be very realistic about this. This could be an absolute fail. After all, the callout challenge starts 4 weeks from tomorrow & my truck is in Washington with a blown motor. Even when it gets back it has a ten bolt rear end & no cage. This will be a Hail Mary if I was ever involved in one.... Sounds like fun!

I think the truck would have a good shot if finished. But, getting it there is prone to snags and setbacks.

I wish you luck sir!

Oh I'm so jelly of you. Love the work scott does. Do you need a bigger rear end for it? Is it more for the torque it's going to see than the weight issue?

Plan for the turbos is big triples with a new Wagler intake & twisted pedastal. A/C has to go since we won't have the extra time to try to work around it. While Scott works all that out we're putting the race engine together.

Short block is ready & we're waiting on heads to show up from So Cal Diesel. Short block is:

Half filled LBZ block
New LML crank
Billet main caps dowel pinned to the block
So Cal girdle & main studs
Carrillo rods
Mahle forged pistons
So Cal damper & billet flywheel
All internally balanced

Maybe one day someone will be kind enough to enlighten me why all pictures turn out upside down.

The 10 bolt will never last with the new setup. I wasn't expecting it to survive the stock racing we did. I have a brand new 14 bolt & a Yukon locker ready go in the truck when it gets back. We'll also need to get a rear driveline built.

I gotcha. Well sounds like you've got a dang good grasp on what your about to attempt and fingers crossed it will succeed. This would be a sweet truck to see in it

9100af cam is correct. For the fuel I contacted Rick @ Exergy & they really stepped up to give us sponsorship support. We have a set of 500% LBZ injectors & two 12mm stroker pumps here. I was concerned about tuning such large injectors with limited time so one night last week they were put in the LBZ shop truck. We now have a stock motor, stock trans & stock CP3 parts chasing truck with 500s. They daily drive unbelievably well. Talk about throttle response!

Wow Congratulations! I'm hopeful you get the truck done in time. I can imagine how excited you are.

500s seem insane to me. At least your working with the best of it all. Keep us informed. Subd

500s with 2 12mm...holy cow batman. So you installed 8 fire hoses and 2 bulge pumps to shove a refinery down that things throat. Hot damn that's awesome. Should make alot of powa

2wd? On a big build like that I would not rush it for the challenge. The guys that signed up have a lot of time getting there trucks to where they are. Dont get me wrong. It would be fun but I dont see it happening. The sled pull is gonna hurt many egos.

It's a 4wd. Not sure if it'll hook to a sled. If we do we, I'm pretty sure we'll be the only 6 lug there:rofl:

I know what we're up against but it's hard to say no when you're a shop owner & this the kind of work you love. My goal would be to just build cool stuff like this every day. Not very many people have the passion to pour into something like this. There's days when I don't either, but not very often. I'm not expecting to win any event but I would at least like to put on a good show. Even if the challenge wasn't coming we'd still push this thing to get it done. Just more motivation since we have an invite & a good friend in the industry that we don't want to let down.
