Just FYI Mike, I just did the test.

80 gal tank from 0-130 psi took 7 min flat. That's only turning 600rpm compared to the rated 1050rpm. So nets me about 13cfm it seems. 3 more above yours and I'm sure this is quieter too.

If only I had a sandblaster to hook to this. I did a welding job for a guy several years ago and wound up buying it from him. It has an inline 6 in it and the back three are compressor and the front 3 run it. It is 160 CFM and will build that pressure in seconds. The yellow one has a brass tag on it that says "U.S. department of the Navy" and the tires have U.S.N. molded into them. I am told they used them to spin air impellers on jets. I also found another one which is a tow behind a year or two later and bought if I needed parts but it actually runs better than the tractor. It is the same engine but no Navy tag. Scramm is still in business in PA. and makes drill rigs now. They also converted flat head Ford V8's back in the day as tow behind air compressors. We ride the yellow one through parades around home. It is ugly, lol. There is a switch that changes the oil pressure and manipulates the valves somehow to turn it on and off while the engine is running. They really are neat and I haven't ever heard of them until I found the yellow one. Most people think they run on LP because the tank under the hood, that is a small air tank.

Finally had a chance to mess with the compressor. Adjusted it down to kick on at 100 psi and shut off at 140. Seems to do a good bit better now. I couldn't get the compressor to shut off at anything lower than 140 psi so i guess that's where it'll be. I adjusted it every which way possible.

Goes from 100-140 in 1:55.

So after messing with the Kobalt this afternoon, I decided I just wasn't going to be happy with this compressor. Put it on the local classifieds and sold it within 20 minutes. Lost $25 on it...I'm ok with that lol.

Whatever you buy, buy one with a US made motor on it. Avoid at ALL costs the ones with the mexican made electric motors. I ended up buying a BEL AIRE 2 stage for my shop. I got the lowest output they had with an 80 gallon tank because I don't normally use that much air, but I wanted the extra pressure to get teh extra grunt out of my impacts. If you look, sometimes you can pick up QUINCY factory remans for less than the box stores new ones. If you get a QUINCY or CHAMPION, it will probably be the last compressor you ever buy.

Got it hooked up and it runs good. Way better than the Kobalt. The math is showing 15.1cfm out of this. Not bad at all. 4 min 25 sec from 0-125psi. 1 min 6 sec from 90psi (kick on) to 125psi (kick off). Kobalt was slightly quieter though. I may try a different filter/muffler, but for now, it's just fine.

I'm in love.

We used to run those on the rigs, no maintenance, run non stop because they were too small for what we used them for and leaking junk shit they ran, and powering air jammers (diaphragm pumps), we got 2-3 years out of em. Should last a normal man a lifetime.

I got a little craftsman 33gl with 150psi.. Upped the hose fitting from 1/4" to 3/8" along with all the quick connects..and 3/8" ball valve on side of the tank..
Made a big difference in air tool performance. I really need a 60-80gl tank with min 150psi

Got the ole Schramm out of the building the other day for a photo op. They are both 160 CFM @100 PSI.
