I picked up a 05 LLY engine out of a wrecked Kodiak today, I plan on putting it in my 05 2500 untill I can get my built motor gone through and fixed. I noticed the extra motor mount tabs on the front, the Different upper/lower oil pan, different rear adapter plate, and I believe different up pipes? Is there anything else any one can think of that I will need to change over to make this work? Are the Harnesses the same? I know they come De-tuned from the factory but I am assuming thats just programing? Turbo looks the same but its hard for me to remember what my (Stock) motor use to look like:D

The kodiak harness has 2 extra grounds I believe and routes different. Also I think the y-bridge inlet is different. Other than that just put your motor mounts, oil pans, adapter plate, manifold and up-pipes and downpipe on and she should be good to go.

I do have a question regarding the crank seal on the intermediate plate. If I am not mistaking that requires a special tool to install correct? I am thinking of just bringing it to GM and having them press a new seal in but I was unsure if that is necessary or not?

The crank seal is a two piece seal and must be pressed in after the rear plate is installed on the motor. It would be ideal to have the tool.

The flywheel bolts are 58ftlbs pre torque, then 60* torque turn, then another 60* torque turn. I tighten all the bolts in a star pattern.

i just pressed the seal itself on and left the second piece on each end of the crank from the old seal....i assume you have to use some sort of 3 jaw puller to pull the little rings off the crank:confused: did i **** that up tavis?

Well Sh!t!:( Guess I will try and track down the tool then. I really dont want to have to Put the motor back on a pallet and run it to GM to install a seal. What does Torque turn mean:confused: Maybe I will just run it over to the machine shop and let him Reassemble it:eek::(

Custom, I think that means you tighten to 58 ft lbs and then another 60* and then another 60* turn on the bolt. Someone correct me if that's wrong.

By the time I buy the Tool to press the rear main seal in and the tool to hold the flywheel it would be cheaper to just let my Engine builder/machine shop do it:rolleyes::mad: But On the other hand since this is becoming a some what frequent occurance (Breaking Sh!t) I really should learn how to do it (CORRECTLY) myself:eek::) ($$$)
