sounds like a relay may be the way to go. Any certain one? , I'm not too versed in them, how would you wire it in ? Thanks

If a guy put spade connectors into each side of the ECM fuse location and wired them into a cord that ran to the back of truck with a removable plug hooked into the end of cord and secured with a zip tie to prevent accidental activation. Then put an inline fuse somewhere, wouldn't that work without the risk of burning up an ECM and work just like a breakaway switch that opens circuit when the breakaway happens?

You all relieze if your motor runs away an say burning oil then you will not be able to kill it. The air shut off is safety for everyone around and maybe for your truck too. Not trying to start anything but something to think about.

It might if it is fuel related. We had a ford psd turn over and stay running. Pinched off the fuel lines and it stayed running for 15 til we got something to plug the intake with. It was running on its oil

Yes I'm sure the others as well as me realize that... But the kill switch when sled pulling is used in the event that the truck comes unhooked from the sled somehow, not in the event that the engine runs away. I have a slide in my intake that kills the air to engine in case it runs away

there's another thread on here where someone posted how to make a cheap air shut off. The shipping was more than the parts to build it and it still wasn't that much

Ya I'm using my old blast gate off my dodge for the slide as well, my reason for using the ECM for primary is if it ever breaks free I'd rather it kill the electrical for a easy kill than slice off air when it's zingin wide open, full boost, and everything else and suck the seals out of the turbo or somethin lol your p pump doesn't have that option :p

JakeBrakeIH has a nice setup on his truck. Just a plug and play setup and completely safe with no chances of the ECM shorting out. He can chime in with some more details.

Yep! I went with James's^^^^ kill switch. I didnt feel like cutting up my intake to put an air shut off. Just plugs into the main ECM fuse with spades, ground it to the fire wall and run the wiring back. Pretty slick seeing I can easily switch back to street mode. Plus there is almost zero room for a air knife and some places Ive read specify that they do not allow a butterfly air shut off. Im pretty confident that it will satisfy most of the clubs and pulls out this way.

Most places in the midwest require an air shut off, including PPL this year. An electrical wont pass tech. The associations i pull with wont even allow an electrical air shut off, it has to be mechanical.

There is two clubs that I know of around here that require kill switches, and both allow electric. The northeast is a shadow of where you guys pull.
