Sorry trying to do this from my phone. Traded my 99 Cummins for an 04 cc/sb lb7 so far I love it way quieter faster and better Milage. Rides better and I'm impressed. Looking to do a solid daily driver build. Something at about 500 hp and reliable.

I ran a fass.on the Cummins what's good for the lb7? 2 micron filter? Then transmission. How do the head studs hold up on these engines? I want to do Efi live. Maybe just a single tune for milage for now. I have a Pyro gauge in the truck currently thinking mechanical boost gauge then an edge insight to round out the gauges.

Fass would work great, I'd say most run Airdog. I run a Airdog with a Cat 2 micron, the Cat filter are the way to go. Transmissions a must. Stock head bolts can hold 500 hp, of course the tune plays a big part in that, for comfort I'd do them if I were you. EFI Live is the only way to go! For your power goals a 366 would be a perfect turbo.

Yea I don't want to build power then break everything like I did with my first truck. So lift pump Efi live tranny head studs then turbo. I'm nervous with this unknown programmer I don't want to start ruining things with a plug and play. My injectors and cp3 should be up to snuff to do 500 hp correct? Basically just turbo and tuning for the power adders to make that power

Oh and have never owned a chevy before how do you change the daytime running lights? The one right next to the blinker. Took a brief look this evening but didn't dig into it. Probably simpler then I think.

It's easy, the headlights come right out. Stock LB7 CP3 and injectors will get you to 500hp no problem. Put a lift pump in first just to take the strain off of the CP3.

My list would be lift pump(I like the KENNEDY pumps, VERY QUIET!), intake(not required, but won't hurt), exhaust, built trans(5 speeds don't play well much over 400HP), boost valve, and a good EFILIVE custom tune. For 500 theres no need to spend the money on a turbo, just add in a boost valve to get it up around 30-32 pounds of boost. MANY people have run these same combos on LB7's and hit 500-550 at the wheels. Yes a turbo will help clear it up at that HP level, but not required.

Yes you can get 500hp out of the stock turbo, but you have to drive it very hard and frankly it's harder on the motor pushing a turbo out of it's efficiency range. If you want to drive around all the time on a 500hp tune I would suggest getting a turbo or upgrading the IHI which is also a great option.

Not correct. Remember....you arent at 500hp in every gear, all the time. It'll only be 500 at WOT....do you drive at WOT all the time????

First of all yes I do, but where did I say it's making 500hp all time? The factory charger becomes a heat pump at those levels and it is harder on the motor, I'm not sure what's not true about that? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the factory turbo can't do it, I've done it with the IHI, I'm saying if you can afford it you'd be better off upgrading the charger.
