I think the biggest problem we have is diesel exhaust is visible, and the smoke tunes. My truck has very little black smoke but i always get the worse looks when sitting next to the yuppy with the COEXIST and Obama bumper stickers. Never be able to weed out the people who are out to just roll coal.

I hate media. Brain washing people into thinking things that just arent true. And people believe it because they dont know any better. News is worse than tmz or access hollywood anymore.

Black smoke at a diesel event? Expected. Black smoke being blown on pedestrians or on other vehicles at stop lights? Not cool. There are always idiots in the bunch. Cleaner exhaust vs. way better fuel economy? Couldn't really tell you which one is better, but I'd go for the way better fuel econ.

Need I say anything else???

And.... Im sure you never ran a heavy fueling tune? At one point i would bet you even could be caught thinkin smoke was cool. Most of us did, im still running a few tunes that arent excactly soot free but most smoke has been tuned out of my main tunes. Around here people still assosiate soot with power.

And in the begining of your diesel addiction im sure rollin coal was a phrase you and your friends used...

There was a video once of a cummins guy smokin out pedestrians as he went by, i think it got pulled off youtube.

I think they needed an lb7 driver sitting at idle with the huge blue cloud behind him.

I run my truck on a decently high PPE tune, which is dirty if I step on it, but under 2k rpm and I pull some great MPG. :thumb:

No, not at all really. I knew from the start that smoke tunes were trouble. There is a certain tuner in my area that loved to build them and installed a smoke/lope tune on every truck he touched. So my first impression of EFI tuned disels was a negative one. I was simply attracted to disels bc they can be fast and are sneaky, both of which fit my personality. ;) Not bc they can black out an intersection, which seems to be an attraction for a lot of guys for some unknow reason. I have worked hard in my area to discourage smoke tunes and it seems to have made a difference bc no one has smoke/lope tunes flashed into the truck that I know anymore. Let's just hope the trend continues...:D

No hard feeling Mike... I was just busting your balls like you have done to me in the past...

I am not saying it is a big problem, but when people search for a diesel shop web sites, most have pictures on the main pages of trucks smoking. IF someone with no clue about diesels, example reporters, TV people or average Joe, they get a bad impression and think diesel smoke all the time. This doesn't help use either.
