Just about anyone one that been in the diesel game more then 10 years has blown their share of smoke on people.

One of the hotest section on DP was the Smoke Stories. The "I smoke a Pruis/Civic" threads where a daily thing almost.

I lol'd I don't like smoking intersections out but get a life cancer? really guess everyone at sled pulls is going to die soon

Daily exposure has been linked back to cancer in many fire depts and mechanic shops. Daily truck checks with the truck running in the bays; even with the bay doors fully open; can have high levels of CO and NOx in the buildings. Mechanic garages that service diesels also have the save issues.

If you go to most firehouses now you will see all the trucks hooked up to a exhaust system that follows the truck out the door and removes the truck exhaust from the building with a ducted exhaust fan pulling the truck fumes out. Many service garages have also installed this type of system for working on diesels. These systems have allowed the vehicle to be run in the building and NOT fill the place full of exhaust and smoke.

Do I like to see a truck at pulls or drag racing that can pile on the smoke under a heavy load.. yes that is fun to watch.

Do people want to be covered in the cloud that is made .... NO.

Why do you think that at most pulls and even some of the drag events there are rules stating that the exhaust must exit in a upward direction....??? When you go to an indoor puling event...Why does the exhaust on every tractor and truck have to have the funny extension up and over the vehicle to reach into the GIANT exhaust vacuum tube so the venue owners and promoters can get all the smoke out of the building..????... and I will tell you its not so everyone can see the show clearly..............

So as for diesel exhaust not being linked to cancer........ I'll pay for your plane ticket to come explain that to all the wives of my brothers that have died in their mid 40's and 50's from lung cancer from our trucks.....not fire smoke..... your speech will be at the nation training convention in Washington D.C. in a few weeks........................................................

It's a trend that's gonna kill out sport. It's the young guys that buy a diesel just to blow smoke that's ruining it. Kind of a piss off. I've actually managed to convince some of my friends to make there trucks run a bit less smoke and stop smoking cars out in town and they did it. We don't want attention drawn to us more then it already is.

Actually, that rule is in place to protect spectators from pieces of flying debris if the turbo blows up. Cross bolts are sometimes required for the same reason.

My condolences for the loss of your family members to cancer.

I can no longer afford to let too much unburnt fuel out of my engine because my build has set me back. I sure have had my fair share of smokin people out but it's time to grow up and save money.
My goal is to have a clean burning truck for the street and fast for the track. We just don't need any more bad publicity.
