You can fit a lot of Cali/Az/NM trucks into that and fly over......just sayin'.....
Can we get a friend's and family discount? Or maybe a discount for bundling? Also, can that bird do air drops? 😁

The kids are in Texas, almost to El Paso. Had a knock sensor code pop up on her Cruze, I told her she had to start running 91 octane gas due to the warmer temps.

Really? Typically it just pulls timing when it sees knock and no codes

Its a real issue with the 16+ Cruze 1.4, and can lead to cracked pistons. . Early piston design was poor, sort of like the LBZ.

She could get away with running 87 up here bc ambient isnt that high most of the year, but down there its not the same. When I was driving the car Monday getting the TPMS sorted and oil changed, it was very sluggish under 2000rpm in 90* heat.

I told her if the code comes up again, get the car into a shop quickly and get the sensors checked or replaced. The car has 95,000 on it now....the pistons are only covered to 100,000. Im no longer there to cover any repairs.

How am I supposed to bring my truck? Little big for carry on baggage 😂

I'll let it slide, but I'm not the forum boss either

Is it picking up LSPI? What oil do you run in it? Big problem with these little turbo engines running low rpm for mpg

When I tuned my 2013 Cruze it got really picky about the octane I ran. Interestingly, even stock the mileage would be enough worse running 87 that it cost the same as running premium. So I always just ran premium since it cost the same per mile, but had more power.

When my brother bought his, the dealer filled it up with 85 octane, and boy was that ever a dog.

The Gen1 1.4 should also run 91, but its not as picky about running 87 as the Gen2.
Hannah's average mileage running 87 was 29.2, which was very sad for that car. It should've been in the mid-30s at least.
87+ driving like Mario Andretti = poor mileage.
Heck, Britt drives her '14 Gen1 the same way. I call her AJ Foyt (they're my two favorite Indy drivers). She gets poor average mileage compared to "normal", too.
A Dad's advice sometimes isnt followed....

I'd get high 20s/low 30s on 87 octane in the Gen 1, but would consistently get mid 30s and sometimes even approaching 40 once tuned and running premium.

I don't miss the car, but I do like the 1.4 motor itself.

Are those engines direct injection, port fuel, or something else? If it's direct then that's just bad programming on Chevy's part. If it's port then there is limits on what can be done and can see some issues because of this

11-15 were port, 16-19 direct.

I wouldnt mind getting back into a Gen1 Cruze LTZ. I had fun driving mine around, and Hannah's '12 was a rock-solid car, just with 260,000 miles on it.

If Chevy claims it will run on 87 octane (in the owners manual), but throws codes constantly and knocks, then it's a lawsuit. I've seen consumers get paid for it. Essentially it takes multiple trips to the dealer for the same issue and proof that premium fuel can fix it. Consumer ends up getting paid for the cost difference from 87 to 91 octane for 2xx,xxx miles

Yes and no. In most GM owners manuals on turbo cars, they recommend 91 for best performance, and say that 87 can be used. My Buick has that passage in it.
Even my Corvette can run on 87, but 91 is recommended. As with anything with GM, its all about the semantics.

I THINK my wife's 2.0T Malibu says 91 recommended but 87 'can' be used, but my 3.0TT CT6 specifically says 91 MINIMUM REQUIRED.
