I thought this is good for a laugh! On Nov. 17th I loaded this combine from my shop on a trailer to head to North Carolina. It took most the day since the trucker would rather talk about how cool he is, how many years he has been driving, and how the other dealers supply everything for him (block to set it on, boards for the outriggers and chains) when I was done loading it and getting the tires off, he said how do you chain these down? Then he said how tall is this thing i am only permitted for 10'-6", these are over 13' on the ground by the way. He gets new permits and he's on his way. So December 6th rolls around and in pulls the truck with the combine still on the trailer almost a month later remember. I walk out to see what is going on, when i get to the lot the whole top is gone cab is smashed and top of radiator is ripped off. He said "well mister I drove under a bridge 42 miles from the N.C. dealership and hear a poof, I though it was a shortcut to avoid the 100+ miles of highway, but the city was not set up for heavy hauling" I said well your short cut ended up being about 700 miles longer. Now we have a combine that i am quoting parts for and am at $27,000 so far not to mention about $15,000 in labor. I can't help but laugh when I look at it now! But the best part of the whole ordeal is when the service manager comes outside and we are figuring what to do with it now, meanwhile a sales man was driving a forklift inside the shop and drove rite through the shop door, when it rains it pours! :roflmao:

He wouldn't happen to have been coming around Raleigh, NC would he? If not I saw a combine that was torn up just like that going down I-40 a while back. He had a yellow strap running right through where the fan is hanging out to hold it on.

Once I had it sitting on blocks on the trailer I told him you figure it out. I was just saying he was so cocky and arrogant when I was doing all the work, but when he had to he did not know what to do. Also he claimed he has been heavy hauling for 28 years but he looked about late 30's- early 40's:rofl:

My Dad drove from the age of 15 untill he died at 52, I learned alot from him and one of the things I will always remember him complaining about was how there was no real drivers out there anymore. I spent one winter as a shop manager for a trucking co. and I have to agree with him, that co. had a 85% rate of being late on deliverys. out of 75 drivers I only considered 3 of them as real drivers. the rest just wanted to set in the truck stops and claim to be drivers.
All I can say is You have to have better control ofYourself than I would of had ha ha I can get pretty Irate with dumbasses. ha ha

:roflmao:well he did talk just like that but was a little darker skinned than this guy. He did have a goofy hat too! It looked like one that crocodile dundee wore. We were talking about him at the shop this morning and the most common word used was "what a tool"
