i guess the quote "jack of all trades ,master of none" suits me perfect. i work for a small general contractor (commercial)with a a crew of about 4,been there 5 years.the pay is EXCELLENT (for me) and i am happy doing what i do whether it be electrical,plumbing,etc....i love variety . i need to finish school :eek: one more year left but just cant find the motivation to finish :( would of been done 3 years ago but something about making less money keeps me from finishing

all i gotta say is if you have common sense you will be fine. its amazing (SERIOUSLY) how many people we have hired that lack it.

Was self-employed, but the economy finally got me. Just started as an Electrical Engineer for the Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division. This job is pretty sweet. I do what I love, and get paid pretty well, considering.

I'm a bean counter. CFO for a plumbing and excavating contractor that used to be one of my clients as a CPA prior to this gig (11 years as public accountant). Decided to switch career paths when my son was born about 4 years ago. Nice time to go to a contractor in this economy though.:mad:

Worked for Freightliner in Chicago for 3 years while attending Universal Technical Institute (year and a half) and for awhile afterwards...

Product Development Technician for John Deere.... I work at the test facility for John Deere, its a pretty good gig and we get to break a lot of stuff intentionally. But it sucks having to work with "overeducated idiots" (engineers)...

Turn wrenches on duramax's on the side to fund the pulling truck...

Currently Head of IT. (Well, actually the only IT guy here. Company has 2 buildings (executive suites and Attorney offices), and an exotic car rental company that just started (anyone wants to rent an exotic let me know). (im doing the job of what normally calls for 3-5 people, and getting paid about half of what a guy in this position would normally make entry level).

I started school as an engineer, then immediately switched to Architectural. I am currently stuck as an Architectural Intern until the economy pics up so I can finish my IDP then take my state licensing exam....Just need about a year more work experience and I'm golden. Its sad and sucks. I moved here to Vegas for a better job and to advance my IDP but now stuck with no work. (Honestly I haven't even looked into my IDP account to see where I am at I am so discouraged over all this. Cant even find a drafting job like I did all through high school, and through college. Kinda at a loss what to do, I am stuck with the job I have because I have bills to pay, and the pay is pretty much shit right now because there are so many people here that will work for peanuts. I am lucky to have what I have coming in though, as there are people I know that have yet to find a job.

I hope things pick up soon. I started figuring out what I have into my truck in case I need to sell it :(

BTW: I am looking at any and all work. I currently work from 9-5 m-F, so I will take anything on weekends or nights, for extra, also during the week if its steady and more than what I am making now lol.

What equipment for CCTV? Pelco, American Dynamics, something else?
What front end for security? I'm mostly familiar with Andover and Intellium.
Do you have to be NICET certified for the fire system? We have to in Iowa.
It seems we do similar things. I also do alot of HVAC controls.

maintenance welder at a marathon refinery. Good job good benefits. Getting ready to start a shop on the side. 767 a month for the house with insurance and taxes escrowed in, and thats after the shop was finished, was 525 before we started building the shop.

I am a Mechanical Engineer (PE) in Alaska. Currently working as a Pipeline Engineer. I had an opportunity to work on one of the "big bore" pipeline studies from Prudhoe Bay to Alberta. At this point I have over 20 years in Alaskan Oil and Gas. I have spent time in both Canada and Mexico doing pipeline design. I have worked as a Chief Inspector for pipeline construction.

I have also worked as a "parts guy", sailing instructor, sailboat salesman, pipe fitter, welder, floor hand & roustabout (on North Slope drilling rigs), surveyor, truck driver, painter (cars, boats, airplanes), airplane mechanic, small business owner (marine repair), and "gandy dancer" (my favorite name for a job, I did railroad work-I learned how to swing a sledge hammer that summer).

Been to college 2 times, the second time stuck and I got the ME degree. I did manage to have a GREAT time the first time.:happy2:
...and through all that I have never managed to shake the need to make whatever I am driving go faster...

Badass!! Want to get me a job when I get out of the Marines? :hug: j/k I'm originally from Soldotna grew up most of my life there...spent the rest between Wrangell, Fairbanks, Tok and Ketchikan. Just got my AK vet plates yesterday too haha sorry for the OT sounds like a great job!
