Archery season don't open here until the end of Sept. Guess I ought to pull out the Switchback and fling a few arrows to make sure it still hits :D

I feel bad for you guys, I don't think I could live in an area where I couldn't shoot from my deck.

ya we do almost all bow hunting. It's pretty fun.

Not really on the river. We've got a lake with small mouth bass though which has some good fishing.

Looking forward to Archery season this year. Just got my first bow, I have never tried archery before but a buddy of mine talked me in to trying it.

What setup did you get?

Best advice is practice, practice, and more practice...you want to be totally confident in your equipment when the time comes to loose an arrow on a deer.

I went out and flung some arrows this evening. I hadn't picked the bow up since an indoor 3d shoot in Feb...shot 30 arrows (10@20yrds, 10@30yrds, 10@40yrds) and all were in a softball sized target. I was planning on getting a new Limbdriver rest and a new Zebra string...but I think I'll let it alone for this year.

sweet. the grandparents ranch has a creek that boarders a large section of it. it's super clear water that always has catfish, bass, and perch...some gar too. we can use 1 lure (beetle spins) and catch all 3 all day. it's a lot of fun in the summer to get in and walk up and down the creek fishing.

one of the links i gave you before (McCrea), Kenny, the owner, does all bow hunting. he got a 170 with his bow...which theres a picture on that website. of coarse, he's sponsored by Matthews, Polaris, etc... must be nice. :thinking2:

Clear water you say?...... Hmmm bowfishing?? :D

The best I've gotten with my bow is a 151. Hopin for a 160 this year. I need to pick up the bow an practice though since I don't have training wheels on my bow like most people do( compound shooters ).

Nothin against you bow hunters but I hate walking and searching for something I shot. I like to just deer in the head or base of the neck. That way I know exactly where they are when they die. My roomate shot a nice little buck last year with a bow and iit took them 1-2 hrs. to find that sob.

Ahh that's part of the fun man. As long as you make a good shot you'll find it. Then when you do, it's really exciting. It's the best feeling walkin up on a big buck that you just shot.

bowfishing would be ideal! some of the banks have too many trees to cast (one of the reasons we get in the water, besides heat)

you shoot recurve bows, right? like the pic i sent you with the hog. all you need now is a painted horse and some feathers! :D

Ya I shoot traditional bows only. Way more fun than compounds. And when you kill something you feel like you really have accomplished somethin, not thAt shooting something with a compond isn't an accomplishment. I actually won the world championship for the recurve a few years back. ThAt was back when I practiced though. I'm gonna attach a feather to my hunting beanie now that you suggested it haha.

For anyone that's lookin to get a traditional bow here's the link to where I buy my buys. We actually partnered with the guys and now we carry and sell the accessories and bows and they make the bows.

A buddy I work with shoots crazy stuff with his bow. He wandered through the swamp last year calling in moose and shot one with his bow - under 25yards!! Not something I would even want to try with a rifle-especially when they are in the rut!!

This year he got a black bear with it and he is going to try and get an elk this fall with it.

Personally I like shooting gophers.:D Not a big fan of cleaning and packing animals out through the bush.

I went to a archery shop today to get my used but new to me Bow sized to me. The draw length was to long for me. The Bow is a high country and looks to be like a max force. The archery shop said it was a older Bow and would be hard to find the correct size cams to shorten the draw length. So after talking to him for awhile and discussing my options. With the approval of my wife (Thanks Dear  ) I now have a new 2009 Martin Bow Saber :happydance:
