going to be having a billet single disc tq conveter installed in my LLY to help "band-aid" it for a while tell i can afford to go fully built, wondering if it would be worth while to add a shiftkit while its out? anything else thats easy and fairly cheap to do as to help keep it from limp modeing tell i go built?

Off topic but the fact you plan on a full build at some point I would rethink the single disc converter idea and spend the money on something better now.

Dont waste your money or time. You're at the mercy of a 5-speed. Go back to stock power save coin and build. You won't be disappointed then.

The Jr will help it to shift a bit quicker, but will not help the holding power of a 5 speed(have to open it up and modify the C2 piston to help the 5 speeds). Putting in another converter in an already limped allison is like putting a condom on after you've had sex to prevent pregnancy. The damage is done, and all you can really do is save up and fix it right.

If you have the coin for a Transgo kit (full) and a single TC and the transmission is out just put a mild build in it like say a stage 3. Not sure where your going for as far as power goes but that should hold up decent at around 500 HP for the street.

Nothing wrong with a single TC I know a guy Mike L can vouch for me that we know a guy (Nick) that ran a single TC and put down some good power pulling and drag racing for a long time! Right Mike!!!! :hello: :roflmao:

Nick trashed 3 TTS single disc converters before I installed a worn out first design Suncoast triple converter. I was asked by Nick and Steve Cole to keep my mouth shut about it while they lied. Since I was very close to Joe Webb at Suncoast, I called him and asked him what to do. He laughed and said " it figures " He told me to keep it quiet., so I did.
In reality, a single disc converter with a billet cover will not hold beyond 425 hp. Some might hold a little higher, but not much.

Trevor just save your coin and get your trans done like mine. Take the edge chip off and leave it stock tell you have the money for the trans and Efi live.

what is the best DIY trans kit to buy then? one to hold 800+ hp (probably wont ever go that high but might as well only do it once and be done)

im mechaincly inclied and my dad is certified to rebuild automatics so doing the work shouldnt be a problem, just will buy a built/performace valvebody and then a built trans kit with tripple disc..
