...and drop your calls faster than any other network.

I have a 3G and it's a good phone, the worst part about any iphone is AT&T hands down. The service sucks major DONKEY D!C%!!!!

The 4 sounds like the camera will be much better, better battery life, and it looks cooler, that's about the only thing I can see that's much different. Might investigate, but likely stick with '08 model.

How about the fact that unlike every other phone on AT&T's network, the iPhone CANNOT switch between 3G & Edge automatically, hence the frequent dropped calls when the 3G fades? Yes, AT&T sucks, but the iPhone is no prize...

whats so special about this 'new' iphone?

oh yeah, and at least in the places I am, at&t service is much worse than verizon. Everyone I know who has an iphone "likes it, but at&t service sucks"

Ill keep my verizon blackberry curve for a long time... (even though its pretty slow, 'dumb', and 5-years-ago-tech compared to all the other smart phones today haha)

It would want to be a whole lot better that the Apple 3G POS I bought 6 weeks ago. It needs a hard reset 4 or 5 times a day. Apple have given me 3 options, I see a tech tomorrow and if they can't fix it they have offered to replace it.

Cheers

I have a verizon phone and AT&T both and my IPhone on AT&T has way better service in my area. I know thats not the case in all areas though. It also doesn't drop calls when switching from 3G to Edge.

I have a 3gs. Very rarely do we have dropped calls anymore. AT&T is the only service here that is worth a darn. I had sprint for all of 1yr and I hated that I could never talk on it unless I was in the "city". We cannot even get verizon here.

That is the most idiotic thing I have heard, AT&T's 3G Network cannot support 10Mbps down... That is what Sprints 4G offers. If you are implying coverage area then ya AT&T is the leader there

Let's see it run at 10mbs;)
would also like to see your truck run an 11.

I have an iphone 3gs. I never have dropped calls anymore.........That's probably because I never have service anymore. AT&T is an absolute trash carrier. Basically every other carrier has service where I live except for AT&T. I can use the phone for 10 minutes of my 20 minute or less drive to and from work and if I go someplace after work that has service.

Right now I pay $80 a month and used the phone for less the 8o minutes like 15 texts and 33 mb of data.

What did they tell me when I called for the 3rd time last night Oh we show new towers being activated around you in 2011 sometime. Well gee thanks.

I struggle to comprehend the carrier service issues you guys have in the US. Our telco industry (landline and cell) was a single Government owned monopoly until 15-20 years ago. It's now deregulated, the government sold off 50% of their ownership and we now have 15-20 players in the market.

What that system has done for us Aussies is it's given us the infrastructure for consistancy. The main telco still owns 90%+ of the infrastructure/cables and under legislation MUST sub-lease line space etc to the other telco's. This means it doesn't matter what company you go with - the cell coverage and line service for 95% of the population is the same - it's just the customer service levels and price that change.

The other 5% of our population is so remote that not even a Government owned provider is going to offer service, so Sat phones are the only way to go,

Well I bricked my 3G by dropping it one too many times so I'll be getting a 4G when it comes out. It sucks not having an iphone.

You're getting F---ing screwed...never EVER have I heard of the rate plan you're talking about for 2 iPhones with 700 mins, unlimited data and unlimited text I pay 147/month...

I'm getting screwed because of where i live simple as that. I have never been a big fan of AT&T but where I previously lived the 3g and cellphone coverage was great. Where I moved to now is a complete dead spot for AT&T.

I have roughly say a 10 mile commute to work a day each way. Figure half way there I get a signal. SO that gives me 10 minutes of talk time each way unless I pull over to talk.

Since I don't have anyone to talk to at 6am in the morning I don't use it then. The factory I work in doesn't allow cellphones past a certain point and it gets no service in the building anyways so that's a moot point.

That again leaves me a small window of talk time on my way home from work and then weekends. There are weekends when I don't even leave the house so the phone gets no use there either.

Since Dec. I have averaged 67MB per month of data usage. Essentially the phone is a paperweight to me.

Also anyone considering the new iphone don' forget that for new customers AT&T just changed there data limits which will really screw a heavy data user.
