I have everything to intall my GT4094 on my truck. My questions is what is everyone doing for intakes? I have a stock intake on mine for now but wanted to change over to a Banks ram air intake before i change the turbo. I just wanted to know if i could use the banks intake with the 4094. I have a 5" rubber 90 to go on the turbo if i need. What should i do? Its on a 01 LB7 also. Any help is appreciated as i dont want to have to buy 2 intakes

You can get some 4" air duct from mcmastercarr.com. It has metal wire in it so it wont suck shut and it will hook onto any 4" air intake. Its good for a temporary until you get a metal piece that goes all the way to the turbo. A silicon 90 will suck shut.

I forgot to mention, i got the 90 with the turbo but the 90 is rubber and its from a tractor so it should suck shut. Its pretty heavy duty. I just need something to go from 5" from the turbo to the intake...

If it is silicon it will suck shut, trust me.;)

alrighty :D On that note if i get a aftermarket intake i can run 5" tubing from that site from the filterbox to the turbo with no problems? I dont how to go about fabing up my own intake, im not a good welder :(

I used 5" to 4" transition to a steel 90* elbow with a 4" to 3 1/2" transition to my K&N FIPK tube. Worked well for me. The trouble I had was that brass thermostat that feeds water to the turbo. I need to remove it and plug it, as it was smack dab in the way.

I got my transitions here. http://www.racepartssolutions.com/products.asp?cat=38

Did you take you water feed for you turbo off somewhere else? I welded a cap on mine and cut out a new whole and welded it in further over towards the driver side.

Rhall do you have a part number or a link on the site to the exact stuff you used? I saw alot of 4" stuff on there but couldnt find what i was looking for. I want to switch intakes before i changed turbos just to see if i can lower my ET's. Probally going to get a S&B or banks. I want to make sure it will work with the 4094 instead of wasting my money and having to buy it twice.

Looks like you are close on the intake, did you get the boost guage/port figured out?

Sweetdiesel (Simon) is doing an LB7 as well, he may have answers, I have an LLY, perhaps you see an intake "tap" on the drivers side manifold second cylinder back? It could be about 3/8" od, may not be on an LB7 but thought i would throw it out. It'll be buried under all the wires and return lines etc.

Good luck.

I made a screw in plug for the hole. My turbo is journal bearing and not water cooled.

I want to either make my own goose neck or try one of those Van ones that faces forward.

On the LB7s that ive done weve used the same stuff like mcmaster but its from summit since we have one in town. Your going to have to have a 4"
90* made for you if you want a metal one. Nobody makes a metal intake for them and its a PITA to clear that thermostat stuff and wiring harness like everyone else has said. You can tap into the intake manifold or intercooler piping if you would like for a boost reading.

i was looking at diffrent pics and it seems like everyone taps the intake right after the last rubber boot from the intercooler piping. I may try spot. I will check summit to see what they have. I couldnt find anything 4" reinforced on mcmastercarr site.

Isnt the intercooler piping aluminum and a bit thin for tapping?

I shouldve stated that you should weld a bung into which ever you do. I assume far too often. Yes IC piping is pretty thin, itd still work but if your running a lot of boost i wouldnt wanna see it tear the threads out. You can buy weld in bungs for the 1/8 NPT fittings just about anywhere.

SPE-9751 is the PN for it from summit. Used it several times with no issues.
