This was an easy task. removed stock pan and filter assembly. Installed the new longer filter and pan used small floor jack to hold pan up during installation. replaced the spin on filter and filled transmission 7+4=11 quarts fluid. test drove and checked fluid level.

1st pic is of fluid left in pan after draining.

pics of pan.

Using floor jack to hold pan in place.

screw on filter magnet, this stayed on trans and i had to pull it off.

Our friends at duramax.com taped the filter box up.. had ti use razor to get filter out of box.

Magnet cleaned and set in new filter.

I also have this pab on my Lmm. I actually just changed the screen filter and spin on filter yesterday. If you are looking for a temp drop don't waste your money. You can also heat up the fluid quick rodding around. The pan is a very nice piece but I didn't see any gains that were worth the extra money. I did have an allison fall off a cherry picker after it broke the top bellhousing bolt and top rear extension housing. It landed on the pan and took the fall very well. It is definitely strong but I don't recommend trying to find out lol!

If I had it to do over I'd just get a factory deep sump for $80 and use the rest of that money on a better cooler.

the PPE deep pan is a nice piece for sure, it's great if you're planning to run stand alone gauges, but it won't change your peak temps....at all

it'll just take a little bit longer for the temps to get there, and it also takes ALOT longer to get the trans up to operating temps, which can be a pain. And, if by chance you do heat soak the trans, it takes longer to cool down...which can also be a PITA

congrats on the new hardware tho, it's fun to take pride in your upgrades:thumb:

The main reason for changing the pan is, all the fluid will drain it will not hold that 1-2 quarts in it.. plus the plug is the magnet so you can clean any iron particles out of pan when you change it. Not sure the extra fluid will help or not but my buddy is running 5 of these trans pans on his trucks and has not had any trans problems all of his trucks haul boats..
He has blown up two duramax's but that is the cost of making full size diesel truck do 11.33 in the quarter..LOL..:roflmao:

Mike, didnt you once say that the only thing those aluminum pans do is add a little more strength to the trans case?

They work like a girdle Tom. If I was a serious sled puller with 1,000+ hp, I would use one. If I was a drag racer I would use an Allison deep pan to make sure the sump filter was always submerged under hard acceleration. Under any other circumstance I would not waste the money.
