I think this is the most apropriate section....
My 01 lb7 has 275k mi. Currents mods are lift pump, and ppe programmer, exhaust. i am about to purchase an ats a3k charger, next is efi live. I wanna stay under 600ish for safety? Im not so sure I will have the funds for a suncoast tranny and t/c @ 5g's. So i am feeling out the options of buying a kit and converter of my choice, and having someone build it. Any recomendations. I live in FL. Thanks guys.

1. I would pass on that A3k.
2. Stay under 500-550rwhp to let your rods live at your kind of mileage
3. You can bend rods on stock turbo, with full race tune running high 12's.

;)

As said before, don't waste your money on a turbo now. Especially a ATS, build your trans and then worry about stuff being broken after that :roflmao:

Personally, thats not what I meant....its just he's putting the cart before the horse. IMO, trans first, turbo second.

What about someone with his sort of dreams of 600rwhp, with a built trans all ready. What turbo should they go with if the aurora series is apparently junk. Twins? Big Single?

A stock turbo has done 600+ on fuel. Just about any aftermarket turbo will support 600 rwhp. The real questions are:

  1. What do you use the truck for the most?
  2. What is the heaviest you tow and how often?
  3. What eventual power goals do you have for it?
  4. What is your budget?

Anyone selling you a turbo should be asking you these questions and fitting you to the turbo that fits your needs. There are other options out there besides the ones advertised in the magazines, painted fancy colors and marked up 400%.

1. I use the truck for daily driving the most
2. Heaviest i will tow is my enclosed trailer, with quads (maybe 6k?)
3. I want to stay under 600ish, i dont have the money to build / replace my motor (yet)
4. budget to be 6k total. I know it's cheap...but possible. I am not scared of used parts. My truck is old, and i am not a racer.

Too clear things up, I am not buying this turbo with out a trans. period. Regardless, I am returning from the desert in 2 weeks, 6k(budget) to spend on my truck. The ats turbo, i am pretty much set on...It is a good deal at 1500 full kit. Now i still need a tranny setup. Hope this helps!:thumb:

You can come close to your 6k budget with a built trans and an S400 single turbo. You can get a good trans build for around $3200-$3400 and an S400 with install parts probably around 3k. I dont know how much the labor on the turbo install would be, this may be a project you can do yourself.
