How do you get the converter bolts out of flex plate when engine is locked up? Does one just have to pull converter out with engine?

either tear in to the motor far enough to see whats binding it up or pull the motor out with just the converter .....but either way you have to get it spinning to get the bolts out.

I just picked up a lb7 dirt cheap seller claimed it has blown head gaskets. Well he didn't get the straight water drained out and I'm thinking I have ice blocks in my cylinders lol. But thanks !

If thats the case pull the glow plugs and get it inside and warmed up then slowly roll it over and push the water out the glow plug holes.

if you pull it with the converter, drop the front diff, otherwise you wont get the angle of the dangle you need. also, it may help to put a jack under the trans and angle it up with the engine.

But before all that, try what Scott said. Warm it up

Id pull the turbo or lower oil pan first, then you'll have more room to angle the motor out.

If its hydro'd with anti freeze pulling the glow plugs will let you roll it over and squirt the anti freeze/water out of the cylinders

Could spray some brake fluid or trans fluid in the clyinders to help loosen it up also

Pulled glow plugs and have had block heater plugged in for an hour. Got a 5' pipe on 3/4" ratchet on balancer bolt. All I'm doing is tightening bolt. It's stuck good. I'm afraid to really hang on pipe. Worried ill strip/break bolt.

Iirc I used the alternater bolts on the front of the ds and rear of ps head. There are holes they will screw into. If it were an lbz the back ps bolt hole is where the egr mount screws into the head.

Got it, just gotta wiggle it up and out now. I'm pretty sure the rings are seized up so I prolly won't try breakin it loose to get the tc bolts

Just wanted to update for people searching in the future, I pulled lower oil pan off and jacked trans up till it hit cab, and I was able to pull the engine out. With Being locked up and not able to remove tc bolts. Just be sure to watch oil sump, it was close coming up and over front diff.
