If I were you I would certainly consider a pm to Russ (Yellow Chevy) he's very good with ihi's. He helped me out with mine and has gotten very good at building them. He has experience with the 64 mm and pretty much every wheel for them. Search for ihi port and polish should come up with some useful information. I will see if I can dig up some links for you.

These are the links I used I did mine myself but Russ will rebuild and mod them. I'm pretty sure he is a vendor here now.

I've talked to Russ and many others Russ mentioned to me a 63.5 ihi upgrade would be best but my problem here is I want a 64mm ihi but they are not true 64mm ihi turbo I really wish I could get a good used dts or duramax tuner stealth 64 but there again are they true 64mm wheels please enlighten me that didn't answer my orginal question you should get what is advertised and what you pay for that's advertised correct?

What's .5mm to you? The reason why 63.5mm wheels are more prevalent is because the plugs used to tech pulling classes vary across the country and most 64mm turbos wouldn't pass tech. I am all for people doing their own work on their trucks, and learning more, but there is a lot more to making power with a turbo than changing wheels around. You also have to consider that you'll most likely have an unbalanced assembly when you are done. Not something you want to take a chance with.

.5mm is a big difference when you consider the amount of money spent if its advertised that way i should get what i and all others who have or want that turbo pay for honestly we dont have tech checks at our local brush pulls and my wife drives that truck daily so everything would be balanced and taking care of for longevity. so your basically saying that all the labeled 64mm ihi turbos are not true 64mm they are 63.5mm that really upsets me if you know of a true 64mm ihi please let me know or who can make a true one

I didn't say anything about turbo advertising or sizing claims. I just tried to explain to you why the majority of wheels now are 63.5mm and not 64mm. If you are interested in a particular turbo manufacturer, I would call them and ask the actual dimensions of the wheels. But if you are looking for the best turbo to go brush pulling with, I would talk to a real turbo builder anyhow and discuss your options, because they would be a lot more open to certain modifications since you say there is no turbo tech.

I agree that you won't ever notice the half mil. As for why they label them 64 instead of 63.5mm is something you would have to ask the manufacturer. Also shafts and the rotating assembly's can be balanced and shouldn't have any issues as long as a bearing kit is used. Also don't want any play or housing interference. I ported polished rebuilt and had my rotating assembly balanced when I did mine and it's been going strong for 4K miles now. Couldn't be happier and lights QUICK! It's a night and day difference between OEM and now.

Back to the topic, OP if you don't mind me asking why are you so set on the 64mm? For the pulling class rules I assume?

Hell you should probably just burn the whole truck and go buy a prius. This is bs.
Seriously though op .5 of a mm is stupid small. I honestly would find something better to worry and lose sleep over...like your crankshaft or oil temps

Wow you have a lot of nerve telling me what to do with my truck. You may think of it as b.s. but when I tell a customer something I'm honest about the exact number I don't false advertise my work because my wife our little one soon to be and myself depend on my income to provide for us a way so when I pay for something I want to be honestly given the product I paid for just that simple now that being said and all the bashing I've received a simple answer would have been suffice and if 63.5mm are all thats offered fine but they need to be labeled correctly again a simple answer would have suffice there as well thanks

My advice, if you want a true 64mm ihi, don't buy any of the 63.5mm version. Problem solved, but not sure where you are going to get a true 64mm anymore
