Wow you have a lot of nerve telling me what to do with my truck. You may think of it as b.s. but when I tell a customer something I'm honest about the exact number I don't false advertise my work because my wife our little one soon to be and myself depend on my income to provide for us a way so when I pay for something I want to be honestly given the product I paid for just that simple now that being said and all the bashing I've received a simple answer would have been suffice and if 63.5mm are all thats offered fine but they need to be labeled correctly again a simple answer would have suffice there as well thanks
Wow holy cow man. I was responding to what mike put up not you. Maybe you should call these places and ask them if it truly is 64. Express your concerns. Don't come on here and get all pissed off at me. Apparently the phone didn't quote mikes post...my bad. You wanna call and jump my ass go for it I'll give you a number. As for if it's your wife truck I don't see what that matters. It could be anyone's truck. Personally I'd start with a call to Russell, then mark, then duramax tuner, maybe fleece, and dts. Ask em questions. I mean you are the one making purchase.

As far as the oil temp and crank comment that's not aimed at you personally like you own something bad. We all know these trucks need more/better oil cooling and that the cranks break. I'm just saying if I was gonna worry about something on my or anyone's truck it'd be those 2 before an aftermarket turbo being .5mil to small. But mikes picture says it all. It's a $3500, 106mm turbo and it's .24 mm small.
I bet if you buy a 64 and measure it'll differ a little. It's all made by man and we are imperfect beings so I don't know that I'd lose to much sleep over it.

The atv engine size is a good comparison. Same thing when a tire is advertised as 33x12.5 but specs say true size is 32.8 x 12.4. I don't care if they round a little like that. The important thing is do they perform as advertised. I have a DT Stealth 64 and while I wish i had gone bigger it runs really well. I have had guys with bigger turbo, pump, and injector set ups tell me they think my truck runs better. If you never want to go above the 610ish mark it's a great product.

I agree that you won't ever notice the half mil. As for why they label them 64 instead of 63.5mm is something you would have to ask the manufacturer. Also shafts and the rotating assembly's can be balanced and shouldn't have any issues as long as a bearing kit is used. Also don't want any play or housing interference. I ported polished rebuilt and had my rotating assembly balanced when I did mine and it's been going strong for 4K miles now. Couldn't be happier and lights QUICK! It's a night and day difference between OEM and now.

Back to the topic, OP if you don't mind me asking why are you so set on the 64mm? For the pulling class rules I assume?

I just want to give an FYI here: while many factory turbos and parts suppliers say their wheels, turbine assemblies, and turbos are balanced individually or together, even Garrett's QC in the balancing department has been found poor and resulted in failure sometimes. If you want a high performance turbo, I'd suggest paying the premium for the balancing to be perfect.

Yea I was quoting mikediesel. I said he should burn his truck down since his $3500 Garrett turbo is .24 mm shy of 106mm.

I wouldn't tell a man with a wife that is expecting his child to go burn her truck down...I'm not retarded. But like said I would buy call a few manufacturer or vendors and ask em what the real size is and tell em why tour concerned.

I'm not trying be a f***ing d**k Robby. It was all supposed to be a joke and apparently my phone didn't quote when I thought it did. No harm no foul. It obviously got blown out of proportion. As far as buying a 64mm ihi you might be able to talk to Russell or mark and see what the cost would be to get a stocker made into a 64...might be cheaper I dunno

You get heated over nothing Robby...it was easy to get you rilled up in college... Seams no difference now. ~7 years later.

You got ~6 months before she's due..according to FB

You want a legit 64mm charger? The make s364 every day...

Want it in a drop in? I'm sure they could do it for extra $$$ or settle for what's on the market

Can't make up your mind leave it stock..

Take a step back, a deep breath... Your world won't stop if you don't have an actual 64mm charger

Wants a bigger turbo for his pregnant wife's truck, is upset because someone rounded up the number of the turbo size, gets his feelings hurt because someone on a forum makes an innocent, sarcastic joke about burning down a truck, (No one said anything about your wife or future child being in or near it)......Yeah you seem mature enough to be a Dad.

Chill out man.

Besides, if you really want to get technical, your being completely ridiculous and unreasonable anyway. It used to be the norm to talk about "bore size" when referring to the size of a turbo...

As far as I knew it was still common practice for a 64mm turbo to be the size of the inducer bore. NOT THE WHEEL DIAMETER!

No one ever talks about the piston diameter when referencing engine displacement. It's figured on bore diameter.

If you want to be coddled like a small child there are probably tons of websites that will cater to you. But a diesel forum generally isn't one of them.

This whole thread has went in the shitter. Lmao as for juddski I had no idea a turbo would be unbalanced from the manufacturer. You would think a balancing would be the most important part of assembly. Sad how qc has gotten these days it is obsurd to say the least. I build rear frames for semi trailers for a living. Quality is by far the most important aspect making us the best trailer builder in the world. I have an quality control inspector towering over my whole area all hours of the day checking welds and interfering with my production. It's a pain in the ass waiting for him to approve all our welds but quality is what keeps us in business and that's an important factor to customers.

If I bought a brand new turbo and it shit the bed out of the box, I would come unglued!

No one threatened your family. As for the truck. Even if it was aimed at you it's still just a truck. An inanimate object.

This a forum... On the Internet... Get over it.
