You will like it. We bought two brand new in 2010 and ours run from 7am-7pm 5 days a week and becides replaceing the plastic ware bars on the fork cage for the side shift we have not had any issues with them. As far as buying American I am all for it. But if it makes more sence for longjevity and pocket book wise I will buy outside.

Looks alot nicer than the Clark we just bought for our shop. Cost $1000. Has a 'custom' green paint job and about 1/2 inch of rubber on the rear tires. Probably will stay that way too! LOL!
Ya know it's funny how American goods are look at as inferior to Japanese. Like Toyota is perfect. How about their issues with the accelerator peddle? Bottom line is there is issues with EVERY manufactured goods,period.

As far as assembled in America by American workers is lame also . No different then Walmart Americans selling all the Chinese goods! Perhaps you guys don't see the big picture but I do. Maybe this thread will be here in another decade and I can come back and say told you so!
Manufacturing is gone solely because of attitudes like this save a buck today for so called better quality when you really look at it it is NO different. It's cheaper only because of the lack of quality of life for workers over seas. Not because it's better

One of the truths about global engineers - American engineers develop / invent the most stuff. The Japanese are the ones who take an existing design and refine it for manufacture / cost / etc...
As was previously mentioned, the American manufacturers then typically outsource and cut costs on the existing proven designs. This can then lead to the further losses to other "global manufacturers".

Since you've got the big picture figured out, why don't you post up a list of what we should/shouldn't buy???...A lot of us don't grow our own food & drink out of a river, so enlighten us...

as much as we want to segregate (or how ever you spell that) ourselves from the world and keep things on a national level, markets wont allow for it. If you in the MFG business your looking at a global market and thinking of everything as one. its the only way your gunna keep your head above water cause our dollar sucks right now compared to other countries. Sure you can argue its us spending money to over seas company thats not bringing us back out of the hole but how do you think we got into this mess. its our own doing. the old way of thinking on a national level has gone by. in todays day and age, global market is a big controller. why do you think everyone else took a hit when we tanked our economy but yet didnt go under as far as we? We as americans need to sell our stuff across seas and bring money in that way. time to think of the even bigger picture mackin

The Neens I'm not going to dictate to you what you should and shouldn't buy,buy with your own conscience if you choose NOT to support this country in durable goods that can be purchased from manufacturing based in this country that is your option. Obviously many items cannot due to our elected officials pushing this companies elsewhere.
But there is two obvious examples ,one I gave where my friend chose to purchase a car from South Korea because he is miss informed the other Pat purchasing a forklift based on maintenance cost do to poor work performed and lack of history on used equipment purchased when certainly he could have done better. Much better!
Things are NOT going to get better with the attitude I see. Not just here but everywhere. I have no idea what you do for a living but what I do ,small Business in manufacturing, is the BACK BONE of this country! When I can buy American I do. I just bought a pair of Modern Nibblers when I could have bought Bosch , Makita or Milwaukee. I do my research!

toyota forklifts are the best gas trucks you can buy. as long as the operators don't abuse it, there should be no repairs for quite some time.
2 common problems that will pop up by around 3k hours:
-fuel lockoff solenoid and/or lp regulator will need a rebuild
-exhaust pipe hanger bracket drops its rubber isolator out and starts to rattle.
other than that, they are dead reliable.

Pat We have a pair of 08's 5,000lbers. In comparison to the 4 90's Komatsu the Toyota have had wire fatigue problems in several locations due to engine/engine mount vibrations.(In normal operation the damn things run so lean and clean at idle they shake quite a bit) The repair harness parts are over the top $$$. We run em on LPG and run em 12 hr days 5 days a week. They are computer controlled and safety interlocked, get used to that.
