What a drag, I feel your pain.
First thing we did is step back and take a look. No find, swept the area into a pile, got creepers, magnets and halogen lights. Laid on da bellies and searched piece by piece.
Glad you could get your part flown in... nobody seems to have one of these parts. Not even GM.:dontknow:

I'm sure you've already taken the time to go back on your hands and knees to look for it but have you tried a large magnet? I'm assuming that a metal that hard is ferrous and maybe it'll jump out at you.
Been there done that with parts before, I know how you feel losing that one little part you need to finish the job. My last lost part was a metric allen head drive shaft bolt for an 82 mercedes diesel.... as I pulled the car out of the bay to start my next job and wait for mercedes to 2nd day air the bolt because it wasn't in stock it fell off the tailshaft of the transmission, right where i left it. DOH
