I bought my LB7 new in '03 with 3 miles on the odometer; I am at 155k now. I started rodding the truck at 100k miles, so some of the work needed reflects that.
Here is what was done under warranty:
18K hydrolock because of injectors-all 8 replaced
a few heater motors were replaced
a couple of ECM updates
That was about it.
Post 100k:
110k added Banks kit
125 k had one bad U-joint, but replaced them all
130k rebuilt transmission
135k replaced CP3, and 8 injectors (this may have been from putting gasoline in the tank
) added EFI live.
135k replaced water pump same time as above
140k replaced turbo...was not REALLY needed but wanted an HTT
150k installed a BD intercooler
things I have never done:
I still have original brakes, I will be doing those at 155k
wheel bearings, ball joints
I have replaced the serpentine belt twice
oil is changed every 3k-5k miles
From my standpoint, the high dollar fixes (trans, CP3, injectors, turbo) have been my fault or choice, one way or the other. This has been a rock solid truck. I have commuted with it, and towed a lot of medium sized loads with a few heavy ones. I just cannot see spending another 50k on a truck and then start dropping $$ into it to get it to run like my old truck.
