You do what emiller said and you might be running the dmax more then the others, just wait till that torque gets ahold of your wallet, its a drug for sure.

Welcome to DD:D

If you just want a DD, get a EFI economy tune, ditch the cat, and block EGR (assuming that is all legal where you live, of course ).

That'll pick you up some mileage. Then, hide your wallet. This site has a way with making people (including me) dump too much cash into their trucks. The torque is addictive for sure.

And welcome!

Edit: After doing what I said above, a lift pump, and a cold air intake (don't recommend the intake), I get a solid 17 to 19 MPG on the highway, with 315/70R17 all terrain tires. I can only imagine what I'd get with smaller tires, or if I slowed down some.

You sound like you have traveled the diesel world, with the keys to that 01 in your hand its hard to claim you are new
But a stock trans efi live tune, a trans go jr shift kit, ported fuel rail, and a lift pump. 1500 or less, should give you a kick in the pants kinda truck, oh and at least block your egr! And do a 4" exhaust too.

And welcome!

I've been reading a lot on the Dmax and my 01 is a gasser and if the Dmax could run a 13.8 I be tickled pink lol and thanks man.

If you want to keep it simple, just so the stock trans efi live, and a trans go jr. You should be able to beat 13.8 on stock tires with ease on that tune. When you go to a built trans tune, it can get hairy. The trans is not the only thing you need to beef up to run it confidently, reliably. It gets spendy quick. I just dropped 6k on a built trans and all the supporting mods that go with it. Not to mention suspension, oil coolers to shed the added heat, intercoolers to handle added boost and increase boost efficiency and bla bla bla 20g later you say wtf? So best advice i can possibly offer is to keep it in the stock trans efi tune realm and you wont spend more rhan 5 grand(including suspension/steering stuff that needs to be adressed) go with a built trans tune and say goodbye to alot more mula than you think.

I had an 07 classic gmc 1500 hd with the Lq4, procharged it with a d1-sc, ported polished head z06 valves springs and cam, dynatech longtubes and mbrp cool duals, stock 4L80e and 4.10's. It was sick. It ran 11.8 at 112, the procharger always wanted to pull so much longer, it was just starting to really dig in as i passed the line, that was the only run i ever did in the truck. I miss it, the dmax is 10x the truck tho.

Welcome to the site. Getting to the high 12's low 13's is not that bad. Exhaust efi live or even a. ppe hot +2 race and just a transgo jr and converter upgrade will last a long time for you. I pushed that setup for a very long time when I first started playing around and had the most fun for the smallest bang for the buck.
