I checked the turbo over well when I took it out of the box but I did not take the caps off and I was very unhappy to find the one end crushed in. Can I straighten this OK and is there any idea's on how to do it. I'm going ot call Brayden and ask him. You can see in the plastic cover that it sustained a blow.

Man that blows Dave. I would say its not going to be worth the extra time and expense to try and get a different one.... I would think that would be able to bend back... but depending on the material... :(

So you think I should try and straighten it, I guess I have nothing to lose.

Call Brayden have him overnight a new one to you and then have him contact the shipping company... they will reimburse him no problem

Jeff said he can send me out a new cover but he said because the cover is machined out it makes it hard without the wheel. The hose looks like it will fit fine so I think I'm just going to put it on. Anyone know how much this will effect turbo performance?

No way in hell would I put that turbo on...you paid for a brand new turbo, I would expect nothing less. Those turbos should be sent in a hard case not a card board box... IMO

dont use it. God forbid something happens in a week, month, year there will no retribution. i know it sucks, but the dealer should make it right quickly. why risk the warranty on a unit that cost what it does.

Don't put it one, you paid for an undamaged turbo, you better receive an undamaged turbo. Call Brayden and have him send you another one.

I would be careful trying to bend back cast....even if it doesn't crack it will be very fragile and stressed and could crack if you over tighten the clamp. I'm not a turbo shop but I would think the cover is done in a cnc lathe and they all should be the same.

If you insist on useing it I would have the end cut off and a straight piece of tubing welded on before I tried to bend it back......but then again it might be "OK" to just bend it back. If you do work on it make sure to take the cover off to work on it and I would have a slightly tapered plug made up to drive in the hole once it is close so that you can get it perfect.

The shipping company will give hell paying for it. If they didnt pack it the insurance is pretty much worthless, ask me how I know. (ups anyway).

That sucks though, maybe better packaging would have helped but hard to tell these days. I have seen some crazy stuff you would think would take a beating get F'ed up shipping.

Maybe a tail pipe expander will form it back into shape. Hard to say. I'd be pissed, hopefully Brayden can get you a new one and the shipping company will step up to the plate.

if its UPS you have to take pictures of how it arrived and provide details of how it was packed in the box. Most likely they will say that there was insufficient packing and deny the shipping insurance claim.

It's on the truck. Rick sent me headers and up pipes last Tues and they arrived to customs last Fri and they just got released today and I'm suppose to get them tomorrow. So who in the hell knows how long it will take for a new cover to get here. The next 3 weekends are imortant for me to pull at and I'm sick of waiting. Plus once I put the intercooler soft pipe on, it really looked fine when I looked inside.

what happens when the bent piece causes a bad seal to the boot and it causes a bad boost leak?

The bottom where the boot clamp goes is not bent and I'm sure Brayden will send me a new cover if need be. If I have to take the turbo out again, I can do it in the winter when I don't drive it. You have to remember I ordered the turbo July 27th and I just got it last Fri. This is no fault of Fleece, it's a pain for both of us.

I wouldnt mount it. by doing so you accepted any risk to any damage that could accur. Put in a box, ins for $2000 and send it back. and let them work out any details. thats part of being a businessman, sometimes you have to eat a little!

I feel you Dave on putting it on and not wanting to be without your truck any longer.

In all actuality IMO you will have no problems as long as you have a good seal on the boot. Little more velocity of outgoing air due to less surface area of the orifice :spit:
