HELP, ripped off by mechanic!!

Hi Guys,
Hopefulls someone out there can help me. I paid big bucks for a backyard mechanic who i thought i could trust to flush my transmission/ change filters, and do all my fluids. Long story short, now i need proof to show he hasn't done them. Does anyone know if there is a date stamp on the interior tranny filter on an 03 allison so i can tell when it was manufactured? Thanks,

Doubt you paid big bucks to a backyard guy. If you had big bucks you would have taken it to a reputable place. You sound like you cheaped out.

What exactly would that prove? Did u not have fluid and burned up a tranny? Does the pan look like it was taken down? What about the spin on filter? I suppose u may have had a slippin tranny and thought maybe a tranny flush may help, now that it hasn't u tryin to get money? Just curious

well if he dont know shit about duramaxes, id pull the spin on and see if the magnet is still there. But he could have got lucky and it didnt come off with the filter

I know he didn't do some of it as he said he put transynd blue fluid in my transfer case which i checked and still had the Red ATF in it. I just bought a internal trans filter and it had 24 11 stamped on the metal part. Wondering if this is the manf date, if so i may be able to get the one from inside the truck and it may be stamper __ 03, which would tell me it is the origional as the truck never had any tranny work done to it, except for the stuff this guy claimed to do. This Guy was an ex GM mechanic, so i paid fair price for the work, and didn't cheap out. Tanny works fine and always has, i just wanted this done as preventative maintenance.

if the date stated above is actually a "date" the only thing it would give you would be the Day(24) and Year(11), not the month so i doubt that there's a date on the filter...

Transynd comes in a blue bottle? never heard of it being a blue fluid though, how many bottles did he put in? the fluid it's self isn't cheap... and is something i'd do either myself or a dealer/mechanic do, not some guy claiming to be a GM mechanic. but if you aren't having any tranny issues why bother worrying about it?

Not trying to be a dick but A: i'm a service writer at a dealership and thank you for making me feel like i'm still at work. And B: if you have enough know how to tell that all these things haven't been done or done "properly", why didn't you just do the work yourself?

P.S.- I'd just like to reiderate that I'm not trying to be an asshole, these are just the kinds of things I wish I could ask costomer's at work.

TranSynd is not blue. It is red, just like regular ATF. Auto Trak II fluid is blue, but it is not supposed to be used in our trucks.

Why shouldn't it be used in our trucks? The dealer where I live here in Florida always uses it in the transfer cases and is what they recommend for fluid changes. The local diesel shop also uses it in their services too. I have always ran it and never have issues with transfer case wear either.

Use the same fluid you put in the trans, or 5w-30. Autotrak is for automatic 4wd transfercases only

It won't hurt it, but it is more expensive than regular fluid and isn't needed. It has some additive that works with the clutch pack used in the automatic 4wd system. I'm sure Ben could give all the specifics.

The stuff that goes in your transfer case is red but isnt atf it manual trans/transfer case fluid . Do a little research about your vehicle and get references for anyone whos gonna touch your vehicle! Better luck next time.
