The 366 or one n if the newest of the Borg line would do a great job for you. I would spend a little extra for the 360 thrust bearing as well.

No core charge on the stage 2 3794. It is built with a brand new turbo that is part of the beauty of it.:hug:

Does anyone know if the 360 washer can be installed in an older 366? I keep hearing about it but still don't know for sure what the difference is

I think it's the t3 that killed it I had a bd 64/70 t3 wastegated and it was a laggy bitch compared to my billet 66/73 t4 I mean it was way different driving.

I think the wheel design a big key to maybe it was the billet wheel but I could tow 10k behind me and not worry. At 26.5k any setup would need egts watched stock to compounds imo

But wouldn't the T3 spool quicker than the T4 being it's a slightly smaller/tighter foot print?

I'm looking at getting an FMW S363.5/68 T3 gated turbo to compare/test with my IHI's. This way I can see how the hp/torque compare.
I was also going to twin over top of it so was looking at getting the T3 gated so I didn't have to mess with an external gate for simplicity. I'm not opposed to external gates but it's simplicity, haha.

When we moved to Canada years ago I had my gooseneck full of my tools and rockcrawler, weight around 32k pounds and didn't have to worry about EGT's on the stock turbo. I was using my stock tune so that helps, haha.

I wasn't considering the s300 series because I've read the s400 frame is more durable. Would the thrust bearing change that?

On topic buy a decent install kit from hsp or wcfab they will complement the turbo choice to get the best out of it. If you go to a fixed vain kit

I made 650 - 700 rwhp for 3 years on my billet 66 and it's still in mint condition also had 45k miles on it so s3 chargers can take a beating you just can't be a dumb shit with one. Shut it off after letting it cool down to under 400* egts at all times don't over speed it or bark it. I never made mine bark and I saw a max of 47psi without over speeding. Mine doesn't have a 360 thrust bearing either iirc so the 360 thrust bearing will only help you'll be fine fine with a s3 :thumb: also Scott makes a nice kit to:thumb:

X2 on your statement in the second half of your post I work on chevy cars,SUVs, crossovers, and trucks alike day in and out at the chevy dealership I work for and the closer you keep it to stock the easier it is to work on and maintain my mods are made very carefully and the reality of it is a good clean smooth running 500+hp 1000+ ft lbs of torque truck is really all any one needs it's neat to be able to say "yeah its only got 46,xxx miles LBZ and the lb7 has 27x,xxx and still going strong lb7 has had 500+hp since 191,xxx miles when I bought it and still going strong ive got more than my money's worth out of both trucks be it my wife, our memories, trips, smiles, fun, competiton pulls, and still able to drive it home and to work day in and out yeah I might not come in first at any events i participated in but it still makes me feel good knowing it's still just as reliable as the day I bought it due the the fact I did my homework and made changes in the right areas to not only increase reliability but enjoy the trucks without worrying every time I turn the key what's gonna break next jmho

But, there is always going to be the fringe who push it till it pops. It is these guys who we owe a debt of gatitude to for figuring out what works and what doesn't in the ever evolving chase to go faster...

I had fun but now I like my tuned lml, if only my trans would just cooperate....:hello:

I will agree with Russell. For DD I'm not super impressed with 366. It's the 66/74 t4 .91 yada yada with a billet wheel. At 5300 ft and stock fueling it is a pig down low. Like almost 4 seconds to hit 20psi from a standstill at WOT. Will be getting sent off the HTT as soon as funds are available and be getting shrunk down to a 66/70. I'll see how it does after that...and I'll be upgrading to the 360 thrust as well.

Ad far as EGT's go, if I'm converter locked I can get them to climb to 1200, otherwise best I've seen on a WOT pull was 1250. I will say I'm very pleased with that and the awesome economy I get out of it on the big tune if I keep my foot out of it.

But again it's very doggy around town and I actually drive the truck and use the manual selector so I can run higher rpm before shifting just so I have some pep to go

I'll take stock over s475/480 any day over a single. Low egt's, high hp possibility down the road, and fast spool up. Not to metion when your cruising at 55 with a trailer, You can ease into the throttle, actually build boost and pull you and trailer up to faster speeds easily and quickly. No 66mm turbo can do that that far down low. It would be tough on a 64mm too compared to stock

Elevation is a big factor, so it tuning and converter, most importantly opinion.

For example: My brother and I both have LLY's, both tuned by Tony and have my trans tune in them. My brothers has a 366 and built trans/ml converter mine is stock turbo stock trans for now, his truck drives without doubt better on the street, less smoke, and egt's are down, spools faster, has better response etc. It showed noticeable gains in power in all ranges of the rpm range over the stock turbo.

It's too bad you don't get your rocks off changing turbos like I do; I've got an IHI that will light even fast and complement your setup!!!:D
