I have been thinking about an idea to help fellow members who need it but won't ask. As many members as we have here even @ $10 apiece we could help out someone in need. There are several members who are jobless or just got a new job and are close to losing their house or truck or both. I would never ask as they probably wouldn't either. No one wants charity but sometimes when your friends help you its just that-help. It should be anonimous and maybe a mod or kat could be the holder of the funds and then they could send them to who needs it. I for one would like to help. i know if I sent $40 then it wouldn't do much but if 100 members sent $40 then well you get the picture. Just a thought, i have a first candidate in mind.
So what does everyone think?

We just need a platform. malibus deal is what got me thinking. he just landed a good job and I can't bear the thought of him losing his truck. I don't know him or even ever talked with him but as a fellow mechanic i do understand his situation. If we could raise enough to help him get caught up then maybe he could get back on his feet. us mechanics don't really make much anymore especially at flat rate dealership style. just a thought. I saw a few more members here jobless looking to buy fuel for heat-that sucks-they need help.
The government isn't going to help so we as fellow friends should. JMHO.

This is a great idea....... BUT.... I would feel so much better about pitching in if it were a direct transfer to the company/bank the debt was do at. I would have a hard time trowing cash at someone that I dont know and unsure if it were used for a good cause. Just my 2 cents

Couple other sites do this. They've had success from what I've seen. All about finding the right person to coordinate it and handle the funds. I'd pitch in here too if someone needed a hand.

I would be willing to help

I am not doing so hot myself taken a 20% pay cut in the last year but I am in no danger of losing my truck.

Its weird and probably sounds stupid but losing my truck is the main thing I worry about if I were to lose my job. all the other stuff is just stuff I also don't have any kids which helps.

I think it's a good idea but it's hard to implement. It's tough seeing people go through really hard times when it is no fault of their own. As my dad says "Hard times make you appreiciate the good time's" The problem is you have to be able to get yourself through the hard times. I'm open to idea's. It's hard not to help people down on their luck.

Going to be the asshole here, but Im curious how you would deal with any fraud on the "needy" person's part. How would you verify that they are in need?

That being said, its a noble gesture. Id try to help if I can.

i know what your saying.. it would be tough... basicly come down to gut feeling.

me personally i try and treat everyone nicely equally.. till you burn me.some say i get walked on... used.. etc... if and when i can help/give something i keep and honest head about it.. adn give the person enough to hang themselve with but not drag me into the nose as well.

IF some Awhole was to be like that.. im sure he would be ran out of the community ASAP borderline tared and feathered..

you can't really check on the fraudulence, that's the problem with welfare in general... the thing is, it's a good faith contribution; meaning you give on faith that it's for the good and will be used as such. Obviously, don't give more than you are willing to light on fire and watch burn just in case that's the equivalent of what happens with your donation. And don't give if you aren't comfortable with it. It's really as simple as that IMO.

When I could I would help, In December I had to roll my truck into my 2nd mortage, see I feel in july shatter my heel an pretty much destroyed my foot, I was in a wheelchair for 3 months, I have 11 screws an a plate in my foot my achiles tenton is messed up I can't lift my toes off the floor an I walk with a limp,( I just tell everybody I'm from New York City now LOL). I'm not complaining things could've been alot worst, I missed alot of work an the economy as we all know is very bad,
I know I'm not in a good finacial state but I'm sure some other people are alot worst off, I thank God that I'm able to walk as good as I do now, Count Me In. What a wonderful Ideal finally Americans are trying to take care of there own, Thank You
By the way this is an xray of my foot, not a head gasket and head studs. LOL I know how some of u gearheads think

x2, so long as I know I sent and someone received is all I would care about.

I'm in. I wouldn't have a clue regarding the logistics.
