How did you correct the shallow hole issue? Or is the bolt hole not tapped all the way down? Meaning you just ran a tap in there? Which holes are the trouble makers?

Valve cover gaskets will leak, basically the stud hits the valve cover and won't let it seal..

All the studs are the same length. It's probably a 1-2 thread difference and since gm head bolts don't bottom out it doesn't matter in their application.

If valve covers leak pull me back off, grind a little on the cover where the stud is hitting and re install..

I had the leak/valve cover problem my first time around. Second time I cleaned the threads out with a tap and got the stud to seat all the way down without issue. Not sure what caused it the first time but I don't think the holes are shallower.

Yea i felt all the studs bottom out while putting them in by hand and i didnt feel any restrictions while installing the valve covers. No leaks that i have seen

It's not an issue on all LLY's I think the tap didn't run all the way in the hole at the factory. I'm pretty sure chasing the threads with a tap corrects this problem.
