Thanks for the info. I will have to call him about a custom setup for the new downpipe. Trying to wrap the bend is going to be a problem. :( Using a blanket to cover the upper 1/3 of the d-pipe and the turbine would be just what I need.

What about just doing a ceramic coating? I hear that is supposed to be better than normal header wrap.

Ceramic coating has nothing on Levi's blankets....and the blankets are worlds apart from header wrap.

I got some of his first turbo blankets and I had him make me a hot pipe blanket also.
They blow away the ceramic coating on my exhaust manifold.

I don't recomend too many parts...but these I highly recomend.

I noticed the same thing as you, Trent. My primary lights sooner and harder than before....a very noticable improvement.

Its my understanding that ceramic coating doesnt last on piping. Plus, its mucho expensive, and Im a cheap bastage.

Stock turbo. Vacation in two weeks, so time to start working on the truck again. Going to just modify the Silverline front pipe to fit. Have to call Mike and order a LH dipstick, too.

Sorry for the offtopic Trent. I'll have to give Levi a call.

it would look cool, but i dont see any added gain from wrapping each individual tube , this is keeping the heat from escaping for lower underhood temp and better/ more efficiant spoling from holding that heat in the exhaust system still.

were i have seen a diff in spooling so far is the big charger seems to come on sooner even at part throttle , and yes the under hood temps are better now than before the blankets .

Have you looked into the "Dynamat Hood Blanket", it might have a place in helping to lower underhood temps :)

thanks for the info larry , as of right now its not needed :D the under hood heat is much less than it has ever been , even with out the headers these things are working sweet !

turbo performance products , Levi @ 208-251-9141

he makes them himself so he can make anything you want built . these i just had him keep simple i am shure if a guy wanted the same thing but diff design, he can build it .

That is the same person you got the blanket for the turbo?

Wish I had phone service:(

update ................ i was on the dyno last night and after doing 4 consectutive hard pulls the engine bay was luke warm :happy2: i am taking a laser temp reader with me on my road trip to billings and i am going to take some measurements along the way , outside of blankets , vavle covers, outside of hood , ect .

Thats impressive... I am curious to see what the drop in temp will actually be. idoes it seem noticable

so far its quite noticeable , the drivers side intercooler tube is right next to the header/manifold and after the 4 dyno runs i held my hand above the engine in that spot and pulled 2 other guys in the shop over to see because it suprised me . not saying this mod will get you anymore power or everyone should go out and do it but in the past i have seen my times slow down from heat soak if i had to hot lap like in the finals when there are few trucks left , so trying to make shure that doesnt happen to me again . plus a cool engine is a happy engine :D

I agree, I know when I am pullin hard some of our highways get pretty hilly. I have been lookin for a affordable way to drop temps. These wouldn't fit over stock exhaust manifolds I take it? Or does he make a set?

he said he has a set on his own dmax ( cast manifolds ) plus were he hand makes them there really isnt anything he cant cover , they are not pre-fab, even the turbo blankets are hand made .

Cool I think I will check into this, I am curious what your temps are now though.

remember for me i have tube headers, 2 turbo's , 2 feed pipes, hot pipe between turbos ect , so i have alot of stuff under there to contribute heat . i think you will be suprised at the temps for all the junk under there  and i have a blanket on every peice mentioned . , but still cant cover every inch so we will see .

Take a video after a hard run while holding your hand on an exhaust housing...then dare someone to try that with their ceramic coated housings.
