No, no, no....you dirty dirtbags.lol. Not that kind of head.lol.
The heads are comin off, well the drivers side is for sure. Which has me wondering, what are common upgrades to/for the head? Is there a brand/size of valve thats a proven winner? I think I'm gonna want to enlarge the exhaust side quite a bit and open the intake just a tad while having everything smoothed out. I have not seen a whole lot of feedback on this, but i could be/probably am missing it. I want to change the valvetrain, but not for race purposes for towing/street. Quite a bit of info is geared for sled pulling 3.0 class engines, whats being done there i dont want to do. Anybody got some experience to share? I plan to get a solid 800 to the ground, on a built block, dual fuelers and a medium /big single charger to start(vgt 72), twins when my IRA/401k/savings/checking accounts all come back from the dead and my wife lets me move back in(hotels be expensive) but you get where im goin with my truck, so i need some advise for the head. So far the truck has had a custom built trans(stg6 lol)w/so cal flex plate, trans cooler line upgrade and ppe trans cooler, rebuilt transfer case w/pump rub fix and transfer case brace, new u joints, new inner/outter axel seals, ft diff was removed and inspected cuz the seal was leaking, injectors cleaned/balanced and all the other stuff i have done over the past year, some of y'all know already, but i put on ppe manifolds up pipes, 1/2 fuel line from the tank up, air dog 165, drp fuel sump, built trans efi live, gauges, bd intercooler, banks ram air w/superscoop, air bags, sway bars complete cognito front end w/uca rare parts diamond series tie rods, timken wheel bearings.... the truck has been gone through at this point...shes ready. I need guidance for the next step please.

Thanks everyone

put head studs , u dont need cylinder head work to make 800hp... you have a turbo!

Alot of people have made over 1000+ hp on stock heads and cam. Put a set of springs on the heads with studs and have fun. Thats all you need for 800hp

Thats why i was going to leave the intake side alone, i thought if i could expel the exhaust faster, in larger quantity, it would run cooler on the exhaust side and have lower drive pressure? Prep it for the larger charger i plan to add? I figure the heads should have some better springs and higher end valves for what i want to do, even if the stock parts "CAN" do the job doesnt make them the ideal candidate for an 800+ hp twin turbo build? Or are they? Is this idea way off base? This is what i did when i supercharged my last truck, it was a gasser though. I dont want to have the thought in my head after this is all done that it could have been better, or that i cut corners, or i shoulda done just a little more. I want to do it right the first time, if the heads cost me 4k for the pair so be it. However, i dont want to piss money away for nuthin either, thats why im asking you guys, BUT if i can save my top end from another bad valve, just upgrade my valve to a tougher valve and better set of springs that might get me a few more rpms, while expelling more exhaust gasses that would be pretty sweet.

I say the only thing you should do to the heads is put some upgraded valve springs. I like the SoCal ovate wire beehive valve springs and titanium retainers for the ultimate in light weight.

Aren't comp springs the same as socal's?

Studs and springs. Any money you would spend on porting, valves, etc....put it towards bigger turbos.

Jd dave- you're right, i would need to work on my marrige and forget about the truck.lol. thankfully its not nor would ever come to that, however, i know she wasnt thinking about this when she said "i do"
lol
Juddski- i have to wait 1 week before i start making any purchases, maybe 2. For several reasons, i dont know everything that "may" be damaged yet, i'm in a long list of work for the guy taking this on, i dont know how much ive got to throw at the whole, not even knowing what the "whole is"? THANK YOU for the info, and gesture.

Dirtymax- yeah studs are already purchased, arp standard, the heads will be left alone i imagine, i dont know fer sure how bad it is? Bigger turbo, 40% injectors, dual fueler all that will be money better spent

Teabags- whaaaaa? I wouldnt want to meet the guy whos gonna knock sense into my scrawny little arse, several have tried over the years, im too old for that crap anymore man fo sho, most likely id get stabbed or shot first, so please dont do that to me....i wont be there anyways, now its recluse mode for the foreseeable future

i already prepped the misses for a block build, she took it pretty well. I am really hoping to do this all at once ya know, turbo, injectors and duel fuel kit is close to 8k and the internals are close to 7k and to get it all put back together is gonna eat up the margin of 20k i bet, this is why i said twins after she let me move back in, cuz the moneys not gone yet, and if i asked for a "second" turbo right meow i really think she might kill me and get away with it!

Anyways guy/gals, thanks again for the guidance, i will be back soon with more great news.
