Not the way I read it. I don't think the big turbo feeds into the small turbo. They both feed into the intake manifold seperately. See picture below.

hmm looks like a parrealle setup that is tryign to function as a single setup minus the lag of a big single or the high boost of a compound

Yep, you have to remember this type of setup is typically used on gasser cars that can't handle the big boost of a compound setup, but don't really have the displacement to spool a big single by itself at low RPMs.

Here's some more info on flow and stuff: http://www.max-boost.co.uk/max-boost/supra/turbo.htm

Doesn't look to me like the big turbo is feeding into the smaller one.

Kinda hard to tell what they have going on with the exhaust flow. They may have something going on that can't be seen in those pictures, or it may be a VGT that opens up all the way until the secondary turbo is supposed to come in. I think you would need to see one in person to really tell if it is a compound or sequential setup. The compressor side is what is going to determine if it is a compound setup. I have never seen one before. That's why I was asking what it was.

on the specs section it shows 1 turbo as low pressure and 2nd as high pressure. does this make it compound??????

only if the low press turbo feed the high pressure turbo.

a sequential has the same a LP turbo and a HP turbo as a compound does. the bigest difference it the airflow from either turbo doese not pass through the other on the intake or exhaust in a series.

I think the late Fords have allways been able to make big power. The question is for how long.

is it just me or does that turbo system look like a waste of energy? it's almost like that "tornado" piece on Ebay that increases MPG by 30% by creating a vortex :spit:, only more expensive

Based on that picture it looks like a compound setup. What's the big thing where the intake air paths cross? Also, it almost looks like the turbo that is second in line is the bigger charger. But I'm just going by what I can see of the exhaust housings since it's hard to tell what they have on the compressor side. I really wish I could see one in person and hold it in my hands.

The only thing that really confuses me is that Ford is calling it sequential turbocharging. I think they probably know the difference, but who knows.

it has a rod that goes to the VGT/VVT to adjust them.

Catipiler does the same thing.

Several times I've seen those things referred to as "compound" turbos. A couple other places called them "sequential." What looks like a Ford release also says they're sequential, so that's what they must be. And still a couple other places including an article, referred to them as "compound sequential." All the stupid bickering and so what?......who gives a damn what they're called. They're twin turbos.
