Well, for the past two weeks my truck has been having a rough idle after a cold start. Once I put the truck into gear it tries to "lope" around, lopey idle. Well today I cranked it up at around 3pm and was getting ready to make my way to town. Well once I put the truck into gear and holding the brakes it started hazing white smoke. But once I start driving the truck; the truck runs fine and smokes the normal black color and runs fine for the rest of the day.

Now before Harley at Georgia Diesel checked my injectors last time I was down in Georgia (around April I think), he noticed that injector #8 was requiring more fuel than the rest of the injectors. Which I found to be true when a month later I recieved a code on my truck (P0308 cylinder H (8) misfire) which would later pop up out of the blue every now and then.

Once that code popped a long time ago, I began to add injector additive/lubricator like every chance that I think that it needed it. Well it looks like that only held off the injector problem to a degree.

I DO have enough money to replace one injector (if only one injector is bad) but I was told if you're going to change a injector u might as well change the 4 on that side or change all 8. I know theres no way I can afford all 8, and to change 4 I might have to ask for some help from someone with money (which I absolutely HATE doing).

So what should I do?

Oh man this sucks. I'm in the same boat you are with my dually. I put all my money into my motor build for my other Dmax. Same year, color and configuration as yours. My dually won't even start after sitting all night. I hate to admit it but I need to give it a shot of ether then I'm good for the day. It's been like that for about a year now but the use of ether started recently. If I was in your shoes and you have no fuel in the oil I would just keep driving it until you have the cash to change all the injectors at one time. That's just my opinion.

Hope everything works out for ya with whatever road you take.

Glad I have some ppl who understand. I took care of this truck the best I could, adding additives and lubricants because I knew about the LB7's almost only flaw. I've actually been thinking about selling my motorcycle to pay for the fix.

I might have to ask dad for help but I know he doesnt want to because he wants me to be on my own; I dont blame him but I sure could use the help :( BUT I hate asking for help because I feel like a complete failure or bum if I ask...

Let me know if you want help putting them in. I will do it for cheap and you can help and learn a thing or two. That way next time you will be able to do it yourself.

Just replace one if that's all it is I did that now have to change another one out on the other side  buy if I had done 4 I would be broke an couldn't fix the bad one I got now so just slip by with one

ok that helps, i hope its just one that I have to fix, and dont have to worry about the others for a long time. I'll pray for that

Replacing 4 isnt going to make a difference in the truck opperating. I think the "replace 4" theory comes from the LB7s since they are a PITA and you have that side apart and a big chunk of the cost is the labor.

It would be ok to do just one, but a lot of work to do just 1 when three other are right there and could be done to make sure they last longer....

However if its cash strapping you, and your doing the work, do 1 for now. Whats another learning experience right?

If you are paying for someone to do the labor, I would do what ever it takes to have the other 3 on that side done....

I would say you are screwed on warranty, you can try to call GM customer service and try to get something.

My biggest advice is this, everyone is right, if you are going to have to tear into a side of the motor to put in an Injector, you need to do all 4 on that side. LB7s are labor heavy on injectors, you will also have to change the oil and practically flush the coolant too. To do one, you will still have close to $400 in parts, so if I were you, I would make good with the Papa, and tell him about what it takes to get this done. I am sure he will understand. I am not sure of your families finances either, just assuming, but if you are like me, you need the truck, you need it to get to work etc, so might as well try to do as much as possible while in there.

Then if you were my kid, I would tell you to sell the damn bike, they are not a necessity in life. A toy, well everything is pretty much a toy, but you understand where I am coming from. Sell the bike fix the truck, all 8 injectors if possible and get another 150,000 miles out of a great truck that more than 1 person can ride in.

Best of luck, I wish you the best!!
