I have never ran either of them but. Would say it deals the most with price and the abilities you can do with the S400. Do you want to twin it or run it as a single?

Nick I would do a search with pat and johns name under both of these turbos
I know there is maps posted on both of these on the site

BW has the ETT that is suppose to help for spooling

the turbo seems to spool really well for me, it took a bit of tweaking to make it perfect but I like perfect:Dand enjoy tuning

bang for buck I just can't cough up for the Garret even if they are a lil better jmo

one thing I also like is they are only oil cooled so no pesky water lne to run to the turbo, may not be better but is alot cleaner not needing the water line.

Btw I shift at 3600

I 3would choose the S474 , the garrett should make more power , but the cost and the drivability ( ETT wheel) in the borg is pretty tough to beat Imop .

I would save the money and go with the s474 with racecover. I read a post some where that the garrett olny made 15hp more. the b,w is cheeper to rebuild as well

What are the benefits of a Racecover? i'd probably just have the exhaust housing ceramic coated cause when they rust they look like shit

Journal bearing Garretts are not water cooled.

Cover is a higher flowing casting with 3" slip discharge they clam 60-100 hp? I think the cover is a 9.5" over the 9"std and the volute larger. I would get it with the 1.1 A/R .you think about the 476 or 478 at all?

Ive been running the journal bearing 42 for two seasons. Ive been really happy with it. Had to get it rebuilt over the winter cause the dust cover warped and took out the turbine. One rebuild for two years of use seems pretty good in my book.
