Have you checked your wheel bearings?

checked these for a different reason about a month ago. no movement at all of the wheels. i'm assuming that means they are still good....

Have you checked the water pump?

trucks at 114k now. i replaced the wp at ~95k. no coolant in oil, no loss of coolant.

Both of these when on there way out will make noises like this

thanks for the suggestions. i'm pretty sure both of these aren't the cause.
gonna go check the turbo in a bit now that it aint raining anymore. crossing my fingers that aint it.

Larry the wheel bearing can do alot of things, the can growl, squeal, or vibrate. The only way to check them is to jack up on side of the vehicle and grab the tire @ 12 and 6 and push and pull. If there is any movement you wheel bearing are on their way out.

You can also grab the tire @ 3 and 9 and check you pitman and idler arms and also tie rods.

all right... i think i've eliminated the turbo. didnt realize the intake was bolted to the turbo... i thought it was clamped.... ...

anyway, pulled intake tube off, grabbed comp wheel and tried to move it. i would have to say it has less than 1mm movement side to side and no play in and out. still feels tight in there, and spins freely by hand.

glad thats a no go.... :) ...

maybe have to pull the diff cover next and make sure everything looks good in there...

Prolly not gonna notice anything in there visually wes.

Get the rear tires off the ground, and see if theres any movement in the u-joints at all. spin the DS back and forth with your hand and see if it feels kinda normal too. While your rear wheels are off the ground, give each wheel a good in and out shake see how the bearing feel.
