x2, I feel the same way!
You wouldnt ever catch me in one of those new Cruze diesels, but Id drive an A3 TDI (or mk V jetta TDI) in a heartbeat.
Yeah the new diesel Cruze is neat (is it really though?)....but....its still a freaking chevy cruze. Call me a snob but the only CARS I would drive would be german. I miss my 2004 S4 every day.
car looks great Vinny, I bet you guys are stoked on it. :thumb:

Exactly im only patriotic when it comes to the Duramax and honestly I think the Germans could make a much better diesel pickup but they have no reason to enter a dying market. Thus we are stuck with boring detroit stuff wrapped around a damn good powertrain.
My dad drives an A6 quattro. Nobody thinks any of us are farmers because we dont drive around in farm trucks. I dont really have the desire to daily drive a pickup anymore anyways, dont need to for any reason, the cars are more comfy and fun.
Even though ive heard they have their share of issues I wouldnt mind a 335D someday.
Personally I think my dads A6 iw boring to drive. Sure its got a ton of power but its all top end like any other gas motor, you really have to get it screaming. I like puttering around in high gears in our TDIs and feeling the instant torque when you tap the throttle. The 6 speed almost seems overkill in this car. 2000rpm@75mph. Going to barely sip fuel at that rate I would think.
FWIW, the mechanic here in town who loves VW, MB, Jag, BMW, Audi and whatever else is a German-made car, says he'll have a Chevy Cruze diesel if they pan out to be what they are cracked up to be. He's really impressed with them. That's coming from a guy who drives a built ALH TDI Golf!
So yeah, Ben, I figure you're just a snob. :spit:
Just poking. :thumb:
Even if the cruze diesel runs great, its still a boring chevy. I just like the way Germans put things together as well as their design features. Im not someone sitting around hoping an American brand puts a diesel in so I can stay patriotic. GM can put all the diesels in cars they want, ill still buy German unless something drastic changes. So yeah Im a snob haha.
How much is the cruze diesel? Reason I ask is due to the Jetta price staying low every year. You can buy a stripped down brand new one in the low 20k range.
Nice ride Vinny. And the only TDI worth having is the stick. The auto goes out within 75k a rebuild is around 2800 to 3400 and so t last as long as the original. My mom had her 2001 converted to a 5 speed with a new clutch for 2500 and loves it.
Sent from a black cloud and the smell of burnt rubber.
I like the DSG I just dont like the repair bills. The DSG seems to hold up much better than the autos and its very smooth except for taking off. However the DMF can fall apart and ruin the DSG which is not cheap. My sisters 06 had this happen under warranty thankfully as it was a 5k repair.
I drove an MKIV with an auto and hated them. I like the stick in mine.
I kind of wonder how rare this new one is. They only made around 1500 of them and you dont see many red ones. Manual transmissions are not very common in them either.
