I have never heard anything bad about that sight. I can only speak from my past experiance, the "Diesel bug" doesnt leave just because the truck does. For me the best of both worlds is the plan. My toy will be an s10 with a small block that I was pretty much given the other night. And my work truck/tow vehicle will be my 05 GMC with a stock set of twins and a trans. If the tuning is kept conservitive and only turned up on those rare occasions then the tow vehicle will live forever. Yes the gas stuff is very cheap and fun but the torque of the diesel is unforgetable. .02

If you haven't joined it yet LS1Tech.com was the best forum out there for the LSx motors.

I have. Ls1tech, ls1truck and yellow bullet. Ls1truck is my favorite LS site so far. Found a lot of write ups on guys fabbing up home built turbo kits for lm7's. Really helpful.

Gmfullsize.com has some knowledge in its performance section. also performancetrucks.net. None of them can replace DD though.

To me this subject really comes down to what reasons people have a dmax in the first place , for me performance or not I dont have a choice , I need a diesel truck for towing needs so going gasser isnt even a option. I didnt buy a dmax to build a hot rod , I bought it for towing and learned later how good of a hot rod it could be , and become really intrigued with the concept of being able to have both in the same vehicle ( if built right ) . Not to mention i still cant get over how in my truck I can make the HP swing over 500 HP with the flip of a switch , I can hand my wife the keys to my 1k HP truck and let her drive it to work , or the grocery store :coolspot: . The versatility of these trucks is what seperates them as hot rods , not there shear performance . And as far as cost , believe me it is not some every one get rich conspiracy , nothing we buy for our trucks are mass produced , until sale grow to that point dont expect the prices to come down , in fact EVERY part today is cheaper than i paid building my black truck 3 years ago , and we have much better parts and options for the same money . Trucks can be built on a budget and still get excellent performance if the money is put in the right places and not waste on non essentials .

^^^^ Well said.

I bought my truck because I need it for pulling on the weekends. Sometimes cattle, sometimes travel trailers or just little utility trailers but non the less most of the loads are far more than a gasser would handle for more than a short period of time. And typically my trips are 2 hrs at a minimum, sometimes 17+hrs.

i'm stuck with owning a diesel as at least one of my vehicles. Might as well enjoy it for the most part! I don't see myself building it into a hot rod unless I hit the lottery, or buying another dedicated race truck/car for that matter. Too much other stuff to deal with that keep me occupied.

my goal is twins, and that is hopefully my stopping point. If a piston cracks, i'll be going in with LB7/LLY pistons and keeping the stock rods.

I also enjoy the smile my customers get when they realize the capability of a 7500lbs truck! makes a nice conversation piece!

Trent hit the nail on the head. The versatility is great. What other vehicle will tow heavy trailers, run mid 12's, get great fuel economy, sled pull, hold its own in the sand drags, etc as well as these trucks do......I debated getting another truck too, but for just the purchase price of a 2nd one I can build a motor.
If you just wanna go fast, get a race car or a crotch rocket.
IMO these trucks are a pretty good bang for the buck.
