yeah I got that, Just didnt get quite that far yet. Im still wondering if im really getting a benefit from sourcing my own parts. I'm basically building the kit that the II comes with. by the time its all said and done, ill probably only be saving 200-300 bucks. when I could just spend that extra and get a full kit that's waste gated.

If you're in a hurry it's worth the few hundred extra bucks.

If you have time, you can spend it waiting for deals to pop up.
You can save some coin by sourcing your own oil lines. Those merchant lines are a couple hundred bucks.

Hell I paid $175 for my T4 HTT pedestal from EPR a long time ago. It got dropped and had a little blemish dent in the casting and had less than 1 hour of run time. Paid $600 shipped for my s472 with 500 miles on it. Came with a brand new exhaust housing on it. I did spend close to 3 months gathering the more expensive things.

I snagged my entire wcfab s472 kit for $2500 shipped. 3" hot and cold intercooler pipes, 3" welded lb7 style y bridge, full egr delete (y bridge), full 5" intake, merchant auto oil feed and return line kit, coolant crossover plug, stock oil feed plug, s472 turbo, ppe pedestal and spacer, down pipe, and every single nut, bolt, clamp and boot.

thanks for the help guys. So If I get a t4 pedestal, I could upgrade to a 400 frame turbo if I ever wanted to? Im pretty sure the "kits" are pretty much t3's right? the BW chargers Im looking at are pretty much all t4 mounting.

if youre ordering new, most all the "kits" will be available in either a t4 or t3 configuration, t4 is better for top end flow and higher rpm and starting at a 600whp goal with the intention of goin past 700hp and more, where the t3 is better for quick spool and "smaller" chargers and power goals where you arent planning on going past 700ish, not that a t3based charger wont make more power, just at/around that point the t3 starts choking out power potential, cuz it can only flow so much

as far as i know, you cant run a t3 based charger on a t4 based pedestal, the charger and ped have to match, but you can get an s366 with a t3 or t4 base

you need to check it out but, im not so sure switching form a t3 to t4 is always a direct swap, or if it is at all...?

so, to "swap" chargers may also entail piping modifications as well, but i have no idea, just a cautionary thought:hug:

You can get a T3 or T4 s366.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but is the .91 a T4 housing? I believe it might be.

You can get a kit T3, T4, hell T6 if that's what you require.

The T is just the flange size for the inlet of the exhaust housing.

yeah I knew that. I was mostly wondering if going with a T4 Pedestal was the best way to keep more options open. Im looking for more flow on top end to drop egt's, so I think a t4, .91 housing should work in my application.

What are your future goals for the truck? If you ever want to break 700-750hp get a T4 pedestal

i got my industrial injections turbo an kit for 1200 bucks t3 pedastal. i am in the same boat you are, want to keep my gaskets and bottom end. so i went with t3 so i could wastegate it and keep it below 40lbs. And so i can still use my truck as a truck. aka tow what ever i want and when ever i want

I liked my t4 .91 BW 366. Spooled great and with stock fuel and gaskets I made 575hp and 1103tq.

You need to get off this gated turbo thing. That'll just create more drive pressure due to the smaller housing. Boost doesn't blow motors. Cylinder pressure, heat and drive pressure do.

yeah... I'm gonna see if i can get a hold of Kory tomorrow and ask him about retuning it so I dont have enough fuel to boost over 40 PSI. If he can for sure that will ease my mind a lot. I do tow with my truck often too, but I dont think the 66 T4 will cause any problems from what I have been reading.

I made 42lbs on my 66 in 5th gear on my hot tune. I wouldn't worry about making over 40 lbs.

I think you're over thinking this to much

Im doing my best to over think this lol. I DO NOT have the money for a head gasket repair and studs. let alone a few shortened rods. thanks for the words of wisdom guys. And thanks for the offer on the turbo. Id love to but i was planning on spending closer to 600-700 on the charger brand new. I think a regular out of the box 66 is a good starting point for me.

I hate to say it but if you don't have the coin to deal with the consequences.
Then I wouldn't worry about a bigger turbo. Some guys can get away with a bigger charger without issues and some can't.

This is not a cheap hobby but it's very addicting.

I know where you're coming from. We've all been there or are still there. It's just to addicting to give up :D

I'm not trying to steer you away. If you want a bigger charger by all means go for it and will be more than happy to help you with your decision.

Just remember anything can happen and it usually does at the worst time :roflmao:
